Berat is a nice place to visit and fairly easy to get around by foot (it was raining, which did make the ancient cobblestones slippery). The hostel was an unexpected treat. There's an orchard, which the proprietor let us raid. The breakfast was good and had local as well as more familiar food. The shared room we had was standard and clean. There was an older traveler in our group, and the proprietor fixed up his warmest room for her at no extra cost, even though I think it was a private room. Of the five or six hostels I've stayed at, this one has been the best for the money, and I'd stay there again.
