I've stayed in quite a few hostels all over Australia, from the very good (Tin Billy in Brisbane) to this place, which is like a homeless peoples shelter. Lets start at the glass front door which has been smashed and not replaced, the reception which is full of broken chairs & couches and the 5 "Free Internet" terminals (you only get 20 mins) and it is SO slow you'll think you're on dialup. The TV room which has a broken large TV with a small 51cm TV chucked in front of it and no remote control, also surrounded by broken couches. There is no "Free Movies" or Pool Table. The kitchen is small, filthy and awful. The bathrooms are HORRENDOUS half the lights don't work and the areas outside the gloomy lighting are worse because you can see the mould and grime on the floor and tiles, I've NEVER seen anything like it. I showered in my socks which I then bagged and threw in the bin. The RULES are nuts ! They charge a $50 key deposit, and there is a $350 FINE if you disobey any of the major rules, which are, No Guests at any time, No eating in the rooms, No Alcohol at any time, No Smoking anywhere (they don't have an area for it). Thay have a 10am checkout or 10.30am depending on which of the all too numerous signs you read. On the website it says they have 24hr reception, it's NOT true, reception closes at 11pm and opens again at 8am. During these closed times guests are LOCKED OUT of the TV room and kitchen areas. They advertise it at $21 per night, but you can only get that price if you stay a week LOL I paid $25 :( I created an account on here so I could make sure that people are warned about this place. This is not a Backpackers Australians are proud of, it is NOT run by Australians and that is all I can say. BE WARNED !
