Thank you! by triinuo
I want to say a big 'thank you' to the hostess of the place and her whole very supportive family! Not only they hosted us, a group of 14 bicycle-tourists from Estonia in their own living-room and bedroom, but they also stored our huge bicycle boxes in their tiny courtyard for 2 weeks and tried to protect us in all ways from the shakals of Baku's tourist-industry. Some of the few people in Azeri who are really unselfishly hospitable. Othes only talk about it!
The hostel is very clean, by the way, and tea with sweets is served by hosts every evening or whenever you ask, for free!
Its still very useful to know some russian or aseri, otherways you could end up in misunderstanding. In this case try to find some russian-speaking tourist or english-speaking local to translate your needs.
Best regards from Estonia

The Caspian Hostel has 8 beds. The sanitation (including washing machine) is very clean and at night you have the convenience of an air conditioning. The 3 generation of women are very welcoming warm and helpful. You don't have to pay for the sheets like in the 1000 Camels hotel. There are rumours that it will have internet soon. I stayed 8 days here and I will never forget it, thanks to Vesile, her daughter and granddaughters.
Hello,
I'd like to recommend Caspian Hostel in Baku. I arrived last saturday early in the morning and was overwhelmed by the hospitality of the lady of the house and her family, even while I woke them up in the night! Our stay was excellent, the place is kept clean, the rate is lowest you can find in the city and the atmosphere was great. They also can arrange transport to and from the airport. Beware that only her daughters speak English.
Regards Niels
