The best hostel I stayed in on my trip around South America - I ended up staying twice for 8 days each time! It has the best location in Ipanema, great breakfast, excellent and clean facilities and the v friendly and helpful Lance and Ingrid.
A beatuiful and well run hostel. Set 1 block back from the best part of Ipanema beach, this hostel is in a beautiful restored colonial house. Great facilities (including lots of hammocks and a massive plasma TV with comfy couches), this is the most comfortable and homely hostel I´ve stayed in so far in South America. It´s also nice and quiet at night.

The Mango Tree is based in a newly renovated 1930’s colonial style house that has 8 double rooms ( 5 with en-suite, all air-conditioned ), 26 dorm beds, and all of the facilities to make your stay with us the most memorable of your trip.
