Cambie Seymour Hostel - Vancouver - Reviews & Contact Details

We booked a private room for a few weeks, but it was awful. It's right above a bar so it's impossible to sleep before 2 in the morning. Not that the fact that it's also right above a very busy street would have allowed that. The rooms are swelteringly hot. We got there on a Friday and the men's bathroom ran out of paper towels, and they weren't refilled by the time we left the following Monday. Worst of all, the staff is completely useless and has no business working in this industry. They said that if we wanted to cancel and be refunded, we should tell them 24 hours before checking out. We did so the day after we got there, and the guy behind the counter looked at us like we each had two heads. We ended up staying until Monday, constantly checking back to see if they had the rest of our money at the desk. When we finally got it and were ready to sign out, we brought most of our things to the new hostel we were staying at and went back to check out and get the rest, and the guy at the counter had the nerve to go "Uh, are you checking out? Checkout time was ten minutes ago." I wanted to say "No, idiot, checkout time was two days ago, but you missed it," but I bit my tongue. After the awful service we had there, that guy had the balls to give us lip. We definitely won't be staying there again. There's another hostel a few blocks away that is better in every way, and even cheaper.
