Beijing Jade International Youth Hostel is a rare gem in the world of hostelling, especially in China. Most of it's staff speak reasonable English, the rooms are clean - we stayed in a double with ensuite bathroom and paid so little money - this place is great value for money. The "information" center also helps you organise trips, and onwards journey - but, be aware that many touristy trips in China come with their "side trips" to "jade factories" and alike, trying to sell you stuff!
