Worst hostel ever by ekat
As others have said, this place is expensive and snooty. To top it off, I was put in a room with only partying 22 year old who had no respect, came it at all hours shouting and making a lot of noise. When asked, even the night guard said he'd heard them. I had paid 3 nights in advance, but after that one night had only one desire: leave. The manager refused to give me back my 2 extra nights' money and told me that he suggested I took a private room if sharing a dorm bothered me so much. I've travelled extensively, slpet in many hostels, but they had rules they enforced and actually defended those in the right.
Expensive and snooty.
Hot water and A/C only works after 10pm and both stop well before noon. Additionally the A/C is controlled by remote control --thay they keep -- and someone from the front desk has to walk into your assigned room to turn it on (so much for privacy).
My toilet leaked and the only solution that the hostel had was a pair of old towels, unfortunately for the amount of water a dozen towels would not have been enough.
For $55 US I expected to have the "5-star" treatment that they boast about.
Breakfast is not included, but coffee is FREE if you buy their morning meal.
We put a deposit with a booking agency, which never got to the hostel. Their solution was to put us up in a different hotel, charge us the same rate they were going to and then let us use their facilities (meaning we would have to walk over to their hotel to use their facilities). We knew from previous experience that the other hotel was cheaper by about 30 dollars per night (for a private room) so we just stayed their instead. When I confronted them about it, they refused to refund the deposit or even make a small concession of letting us use their internet room for 2 of the 4 days that we had booked. They work poorly with booking agency and when e-mailed directly, respond in poor time. Do not rely on a reservation at this place and stay at any number of the other more modestly priced places in Fortuna, which are typically nicer. They will also will not make even small concessions when there is a problem. If you must make a reservation, call the Costa Rican number ahead of time and confirm it.

Definetlly the best you can get in town!!!!!!!!!!!!!
