Clean house, rooms are nice, bathrooms are immaculate and the owners were exceptionally polite. They often went out of their way to insure that I had a great time. Location is a plus as well, Downtown San Jose was 15 mins walking distance(more or less), and stores and restaurants were very close as well. For the price offered, its more than worth it. Pierre is the man when it comes to navigating Costa Rica and suggesting trips.
We stayed at Casa Girasol the 4 days we were in San Jose. Pierre, the concierge, took care of us like we were longtime friends, phoning for taxis, suggesting tours and places to visit, and booking reservations.
We spend a wonderfull moment with our group at Casa Girasol, the staff went out of their to organize our itinerary and tours. We met other backpackers and had a great time sharing our adventures while having a BBQ. Realy their setting is like a very nice 5 star hotel but at backpackers budget. Realy recommended. They are on hostelworld.

For your comfort we have 5 spacious rooms some with double and some with single beds. They are clean and each with a bathroom with hot water.
On some occasions we light up the BBQ and talk about everything and anything.
For those who enjoy basketball, volleyball, football, tennis or just a walk in the park to feed the ducks feel free to mingle with the locals in Sabana Park and make some real friends. Four blocks down the road learn about exotic fruits and vegetables and become fully immerged in Costa Rican culture in the biggest, safest and cheapest outdoor market in San Jose from five in the morning until midday.
