A Mixed Review by Egypt Traveller
The Museum View Hotel has a convenient location in downtown Cairo, making it a useful kicking off point for site seeing across the city. Otherwise, there are a lot of issues.
The entrance to the hotel was uninviting to say the least, with garbage littering the street in all directions(I note that this was typical of most of the downtown city core).
The two flights of steps leading to the reception desk were encrusted with years of grime and the air was stagnant.
The main reception area was somewhat more presentable and my single room with a shower and fan was more or less adequate.
The staff do speak reasonable English and can provide a lot of assistance with arranging a driver; however, expect the usual detours to tourist traps where items are ten times the going rate.
On one occasion, I found the front entrance chained shut and had to wait ten minutes for someone to open it.
At 120 EP per night, it is probably good value but you are well advised to look for better accommodations.
Museum View Hotel warmly welcomes budget travelers to a place where they find a feeling of welcome unlike any other. As the newest hotel in downtown Cairo, it is both clean and well-furnished, and enjoys a perfect location in the center of the business and commercial district in the heart of downtown Cairo.
