Reasonable rates and clean! by rafgar
My family, together with our friend and family, went to Hong Kong last October 2008 for a short vacation. Since we were really on a tight budget and we didn't want to take a package tour, I searched for a clean and reasonably priced hostel to stay.
Through my searching and upon the recommendation of another friend, I found out about Hong Kong Budget Hostel and I contacted Jacky Chan about their rates. And after some thought, we decided to confirm our reservation for two rooms.
Upon arrival in Hong Kong, it wasn't really difficult to find the bus which would take us to Mongkok. And after getting off the bus along Nathan Road, it was only a matter of minutes before we were able to locate Sincere House. It was a good thing that I was able to see some pictures on blogs featuring the hostel.
Anyway, the building itself is so unassuming. It really didn't look like a hostel (or even a dozen or so hostels) is situated in the building. It was not the best-looking building but it's already okay to us, as long as it's safe.
Mr. Jacky is not that unfriendly, as some of the reviews stated. He was very accomodating with our questions. He gave us directions to where we are going, etc.
We were lucky enough to get two adjacent rooms with windows! The rooms were really very clean -- even the bathroom (which was a very important aspect to us)!
We really didn't have much time to spend inside the hostel room since our schedule was very tight. But ater a day full of activities, it was really nice place to rest in. Despite the very busy street outside, the hostel and building was really surprisingly quiet and peaceful.
Overall, I recommend this hostel to vacationers on a budget. Very accessible, clean, safe and very near the MTR station, ladies and night markets.
By the way, another perk in this hostel is their pet dog, Bobo, who's really so cute and friendly.
Never expect very good room by paying the small money but the owner is not really friendly as what been comment in all reviews. He was only shown me the smiling face when I return keys to him at the last days.
Location is excellent,hostel was spotless.if getting the bus from the airport arange to be met at the bus stop or have exact directions
This hostel was great. Absolutely spotless with great facilities (clean towels, boiled water, free TV, phone and internet, fridge, air con) and situated in a great part of town - right next to the Underground, shops, markets, restauraunts.
Jackie and his family were very helpful and friendly.
NOTE you might want to email Jackie and get a very detailed description of how to get there - the entrance isnt marked and is in the middle of a sea of neon signs. Took me an hour to find but well worth it!
On the contrary, Mr Jacky is VERY helpful! We even woke him up early one morning to give us directions, and he did not mind one bit!! I really THANK him for making me and my gf's stay a memorable one!!

Impeccably clean and fastidious, it has boiled clean water and fresh towels everyday. With air-conditioning, shared fridge, TV and great location (it is very conveniently located in the heart of many shopping districts), there is nothing more you can ask for in The City that never sleeps!
My girlfriend is very fussy about cleanliness, but even she has no complains!! Will definitely recommend anyone & everyone to come and experience it. The accomodation will definitely improve your stay in HK.

I liked the place and I didn't find Jackie (or his family) unfriendly or impolite. Not extremely extoverted is the worst I can say. Maybe they have their bad days though.
The hostel is very small but clean and located just perfect.
Nice location close to shops but really bad hostel. The staff are very unfriendly especially the owner "Jackie Chan" Best to avoid this one and stay at the more friendly hostels in the same building.
Our hostel is perfectly located just next to the prime shopping area, where you can find various shopping malls to suit your every need.
Within just a few minutes' walk you can enjoy dinner in Chinese or Western restaurants. Alternatively, McDonalds, KFC are all local. Many 24 hour shops, bars and supermarkets are also nearby us.
For just a few minutes' walk, you can catch the airport bus to and from airport or take the MTR subway (underground railway system) by which you can go to most of the interesting places and sights in Hong Kong. If you wish to take other transportations, bus stop and taxi stand are also within your walking distance.
Each of our hostel's room is equipped with air-conditioning, tv set and direct telephone line. All local calls are FREE.In addition, our hostel is facilitated with refrigerator and microwave oven as well as FREE internet access.
Our accommodation is perfect for budget travellers and backpackers. Come and share the experience of Hong Kong with us. You will really enjoy your stay!!

Recommend to light luggage visitors only. Alight at the Mongkok MTR station and then walk towards Sincere House (take only 2 mins' walk). Visitors can also call up (852)92384300 and asking for pick up after alighting airport bus.
