Worst experience ever by NotAHappyCamper
College, supposed to be a fun experience, make new friends, meet new people, enjoy the nightlife, well not if you decide to live in Griffith for a full year. Worst decision I ever made. First problem, myself and two friends of mine, were shacked up with another female who barely spoke english, in a block full of people, who also barely spoke english, not to sound racist, but to begin college in a house with people who arent from your country isnt the nicest start seeing as you would like to make friends, these people all grouped together and we were made feel like outcasts, By all means if you are rich and from another country this place is for you, but definately not if your Irish and want the craic! Another thing, no visitors policy, what a loada...! Several nights i've been out and as students do often bring one of the girls back or a brother or sister up from home, no can do, not here ya can't! destined for a year of prison like treatment from the strict security at the gate, who once even made a taxi man leave us at the gate in the pouring rain. Now to begin on the rooms, 116euro a week, for an ovenless apartment, a tiny ovenless apartment, a tiny, broken matress, non decorated, broken drawered, ovenless apartment! Did I mention it was ovenless? goodbye to pizza and chicken and anything other than pasta and noodles for a year due to the tightness of the GHRcrew! My bed from day one was broken, the drawers beneath my bed were also broken, my roomates headboard was broken, we mustve changed the bulb about 50times in the duration of our stay, which ment up and down to the office full of sourfaced unconsiderate staff. one or two were awfully friendly and helpful, the others however werent. I can safely say I will never advise anyone to stay in this place as it does not represent what college is all about, it does however give you an insight into what a juvenile delinquent centre may resemble. Zero stars..
I stayed here for 3 weeks last summer and it was excellent. Great atmosphere, plenty of other students and cheap!
