Terrible Place to Stay by Muku
With family one should not stay at all. I booked room with private bathroom but they gave me room with shared bathroom. Rooms are conjusted and smells a lot. AC/Heaters are Un-serviceable. There is no lift to climb 6th floor n family accomd is at 6th floor. The breakfast they give only include coffee n bread. They take advance full money and also 20 euro security deposite. The so called owner David is Stupid and Ill-Mannered Guy.
We had booked another hostel in Trastevere for ourselves and our son and his girlfriend for 4 nights. Because of some trouble at this property we were rebooked into Davids Flat. I do not think they new our age - we are a couple in our 50ties, and though we might be in need of some exercise we did not want to climb to 6th floor (there is no elevator) – 120 steps several times a day. So we stayed for only one night, but our son stayed for all 4 nights.
The rooms were nice, they were new, and had their own bathroom. I got a bit worried about what would happen if there was a fire at the 6th floor – I could se no smoke detectors and no emergency exits.
Not a place for parents like us, but a nice place to sleep in Rome if you are young and want a not expensive room for the night. Close to Termini.
I slept here for one night. The other 2 night there was no space for me. So I slept some where else. It was really ok for this night. The shower were ok and so the room to. But I slept on the top of this double bed and iff I moved the bed moved to...It were really nice people. David(the owner) is really kind and the others to. Expect the one behind the computer who was chatting with her boy friend. I will be really back!! Ciao
Type of youth hostel that you can find everywhere.
Quite good value for the price (indeed one of the lowest in this area).
Generally it is clean and quite ok, however we recommend this place for short visits.
If you are travelling across Europe and decide to stay in Rome for two-three nights and expect not to pay too much then it is a place for You.
Now some minuses:
- when you take a shower after 30 seconds you are standing ankle deep in water with soap and your all day dirt (not the nicest beginning of evening)
- internet is free, however some of the staff is occupying it for hours for chatting and she is angry when you interrupt her
- as a matter of fact the same situation happens when owner shows up on weekends
- most of the staff is really ok and keen on helping you, except for one girl (you can guess that point about internet access above applies to her generally)
To sum up, this place could be great if a particular b**ch was out of there.
David's flat Hostel is our idea of what a youth hostel should be. We try to give our guests the same feeling and service we would wish to find in each new place we visit when travelling the world.
