Cafe Lahore, Salima by Martin Pullen
For the last three years I have been spending October in Salima working in a primary school as part of UK school linking. I have stayed in some pretty grim guest houses in the previous two years but now Rizwan has opened up an excellent set of rooms above his Cafe Lahore, just a couple of yards along from the Metro store and about a quarter of a mile from the bus station. The rooms and toilet facilities are clean and there is an excellent shady balcony where you can chill out in the afternoon and evening and watch the world go by. Rizwan charges 1,000 kwacha (£4 sterling) for a room (2 or 3 beds) and 1,500 for B and B. Meals are simple, well cooked and cheap. Rizwan is a splendid chap and the Cafe Lahore is a bit of a hub for international travellers. Thoroughly recommended!
