Stayokay Arnhem - Review from J
Stayokay hostels are *not* great party places - but they are more than adequate if you want a comfortable night's sleep and, in the case of Stayokay Arnhem, in pleasant surroundings. Within easy reach of both the city and some great countryside, I imagine this would be a great base for a short cycling holiday, allowing you to see a bit of the city's nightlife in the evening. Arnhem is rather sleepy though, and the location of the hostel (it's not really too central) and the early curfew (midnight) mean that it really only will be "a bit" of nightlife. The bar is quite good by hostel standards, with at least a couple of decent beers available, and it would be fine to spend an evening there in the right company. However, be prepared for the ubiquitous school kids on school outings, and the gaggles of middle-aged (mostly German) cyclists, who really give many hostels of this kind a slightly 'holiday camp' feel. If that's ok with you (or if you just want a good night's sleep at relatively low expense in clean, comfortable surroundings), Arnhem Stayokay is fine.
