Africa Center Airport Backpacker and Travel Centre - Johannesburg - Reviews & Contact Details

We had a super bad experience there. 1. Free drop off and pick up to the shopping mall, except they forgot to pick us up! We had to call them and waited there from 18.00 (which was the agreed pick up time) till 20.30.. 2. We made a booking for a Soweto tour and a visit to the lion park ( fee 1100 ZAR). However, the weather was really bad so the guide advised us to go to the “appartheidsmuseum” instead. He promised us that the balance of 500 ZAR would be refunded. We never got it back… 3. We made a reservation for a drop off at the airport at 5 in the morning – no driver to be found.. So we will never ever go back there!!

I had the best expirience in this place as well as on the Kruger tours. The owner was very helpful all ready thru my E-mails. The rooms at Africa Centre are great. I have been in a lot of places but this one was the best. All the people there are very friendly.

great facilities, exellent hostel! everything one could want. great bar! however the woman who runs the place 'zaneta'? was appalling, screaming at staff members, and at times very pushy and rude to customers. her sole purpose seems to be selling tours to people, regardless of their needs. i was shocked and appalled at her behaviour, due to this womans behaviour i cannot in good faith reccemend this hostel. apart from her the africa center was exellent. great shame!

They are close to shopping malls (free drop off and pick up) nightlife and a large fleamarket as well as game food restaurants, Caesars Casino, Golfclub, water-ski and waterworld.
