Smith Place - Review from thomas Kugener

*
We lived seven month (!) in Smith Place as my girlfriend studied at the Chiang Mai University. All in all we had a good time in Smith Place (www.smithplacethai.com). Unfortunately we got stolen money out of our locked room, while we made our visarun. Not all the money was stolen, just a bit (80.- 鈧?from me, 50.- 鈧?from my girlfriend and 11.-US$ too). They obviously thought that we will not notice it, but we did as we do document all our expenses every day. We directly informed the manager, as only the staff has a duplication of the room keys and there have been no other guests in the resort in the time. The manager was shocked and promised us to change something. Well she did not! She even did not change the locks on our request! We know that in Thai culture you cannot confront someone directly, but in our culture too, we have rules to respect e.g. DO NOT STEAL YOUR GUESTS! The manager promised us further to make a notice on a black board, telling the guests to use own locks in future. Of course again she did not! Actually nothing changed at all. That made us very sad. So now, after 1 month of waiting, we see ourselves forced to inform further guests our way: IF you are planning to stay in Smith Place, USE YOUR OWN LOCKS!! Better safe than sorry. Best regards Tom
