A real catch to stay. friendly, family environment with spacious, comfortable rooms. close to some massage schools and a huge shopping mall and only 15-20 min walk to the city center with the advantage of a quiet, relaxing thai neighbourhood. big extra the internet connecting in each room (and who doesn´t have a notebook, there´s also a computer with internet in the lobby, all included in the price).
WALAI HOUSE, Chiang Mai - Thailand
This small boutique guest house just opened in Chiang Mai. It is run by a thai couple in a lovely peaceful location north of the old town and moat. It is a 5 minute bike ride and a 10-15 minute walk from the north-western corner of the old town moat. Rooms are big and airy, tiled floor, private balcony, private hot shower and air-con or fan option. The front porch is the common chill out lounge area, with good international music softly echoing form the speakers, and where hotel guests meet to chill out on the sofas and chaise longue, watch TV, read a book, have breakfast or surf the internet which is free (unless you have your own laptop in which case there's free wi-fi connection). The owners are extra nice and helpful, and they have already invited some other guests and I to join in on dinner plans twice! The place feels like home and is only a 2 minute walk from ITM and the School of Massage for Health, both well-known massage schools in Chiang Mai. There is no pressure to do trekking or other activities, but there's plenty of information available on a variety of activities from cooking, massage, trekking etc. Bike rental is 30Baht per day and fan rooms for 1 person 250-Baht per day. Free airport pick up service. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED as a good option beside the city centre but with the peacefulness of a local neighbourhood.
