Just great! Nice clean rooms, wooden floor, clean bathroom, chinese design comparable to old chinese warehouses. A lovely quiet terrasse only 2 steps from Kao San Street.
Very recommandable.

An awesome place to land if your new to Bangkok. Even though it's only a stones-throw from the madness of the Kao San, the place really is a calm and tranquil haven for backpackers. You will find similar places cheaper if you look further afield but i think it's a great place to stay. Thanks Chris & Andrea
Just reacting to the Michael Moore character, also known as owner of Big John/ stop writing reviews of your own place, it does not increase your credibility..
A fantastic place. Great location on Khao San Road. Rooms small but clean and comfortable with either aircon or fan. Nice touch is free tea/coffee and toast in the morning. Staff very friendly and helpful. Can't think of anything bad to say about this place. Would recommend it to everyone.
Not Bad, but I'd rather be at Big John's on Thonglor Soi 9. http://www.bigjohnsworld.com,
Sorry, but it's bigger and better and better located
Khaosan Road is a real tourist trap these days, not what it used to be.
Shabara is the best guesthouse i have stayed in during four years of travelling in Thailand. We had a wonderful stay in beautiful quiet rooms. The people are lovely. Very central.
The room was a bit too small for all of my luggage, but I was impressed with the cleanness of the hostel. Staff were very helpful+friendly. Good lacation, close maim road.
Very clean, affordable and quiet but right in the heart of the action. I was the first person that they cooked a meal for and the staff at the Shambara hostel made me feel so welcome - like one of the family. Thoroughly, thoroughly recommended!
After many years of traveling aound Thailand Ive stayed in most of the Hotels and Guest houses, and been very happy with most of them, but after finding Shambara I would never consider staying anywhere else this is a real gem, with its clean tidy rooms, beautiful garden and amazing staff, for once you feel like a friend not a coustomer! Amazing. All this and so affordable as well, why pay 500-1000 baht more!
I enthusiastically recommend Shambara. The service and accomodations were by for the best that I have encountered in Asia. The hotel room was cheap, they serve free toast and coffee for breafast, the restaurant food was delicious. The staff were very friendly and super helpful. I would definitely like to stay here again next time I am in Bangkok !
I hope you will enjoy your time here also
God bless your travel
Monique
I had a lovely stay in my first time in Thailand. If someone ask me about a good place to stay in bangkok, I strongly recommend this place, Shambara Hostel on Khaosan.
This cosy little hostel is great! very clean and comfortable and the people there are brillant, the location is quiet but is situated on the busy khao san road. (but u won't know) they spoke good english and where helpful in advising us on where to go and how to get there. we will definitely be stopping there when we travel next year!!! top place to stay and eat.
I felt really comfortable in such a good place. I was welcomed by the friendly staff and enjoyed their happyness. They are speaking english and french, they are young, about thirty years old maximum and their guethouse is one of the most quiet place In the khao san road s area. That is a really good point. The rooms are also good, as the rest of the whole restaured house. Please, enjoy there!

Shambara, a small boutique hostel on Khao San Road, has been opened since April 2004 and has recently launched a classical Thai Restaurant
It was transformed from a 2-storey Thai wood house to a traditional Thai style restaurant and hostel. Finding a peaceful atmosphere in the central of Khao San Rd. seems to be impossible, but Shambara Boutique Hostel & Restaurant is willing to offer an exotic atmosphere that captures every eye.
room rates start from 250-560 THB
