Fantastic hostel in an awesome location! by Andrea123
This hostel is fantastic!
First timers usually head to Khao San Road, a popular area among backpackers. Khao San Road is known for its cheap accommodations and accessibility to travel services. You’re guaranteed to run into a fellow traveler and share a beer or two…or five or six. About a 30-45 minute drive away is the wonderful HI-Sukhumvit hostel. Although far from some tourist attractions and parties, HI-Sukhumvit is ideally located near the train station and opens you up to a world of activities! This includes the water boat, MBK mall, Lampong Park where dozens of Thai citizens gather daily for a free aerobic class – it’s a sight to see! And most importantly, the infamous Chatuchak Weekend Market with over 15,000 stalls! It’s only a short air-conditioned train trip away from the hostel. Plus, if you’re looking for a party, taxis are very cheap and why not party like the locals? About 10-15 minutes away are the nightclubs where the locals hang out. And let me tell you this, they’re very posh! And posh means no runners and $5-6 drinks but it’s an experience!
Aside from its great location, HI-Sukhumvit is everything you’d look for in a place: secure; clean; welcoming; and comfortable. Everyday there was a nice lady cleaning the bathroom so it was always spick and span – probably “spick” enough to shower without flip-flops and “span” enough to eat off of…although I don’t recommend it. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I can’t say enough things about this hostel! Go visit! Bangkok is a beautiful place as well.
If u stay here for nothing else then i say stay here for the people and the vast amount of advice they are willing to give you. We came back here again and again. The rooms are lovely, we had a private double with a shower and it was great quality and really good to relax in after a busy day. They have a not book which loads of travellers have written in (including us!) full of tips on places you may be going from Bangkok. Such a great place, and also has links to an amazing place in Chang Mai (make sure u ask about it!) Stay here!!!
This place is a fantastic oasis in a place where you would least expect it. Its exceptionally clean, and fantastic value for money. Its not very close to all the touristy stuff, but is very close to all the major transport links, so its easy to get to them. The only downside is that there aren't many people staying here - come on guys, this is a great place, but too quiet, you all need to get yourselves booked in here to liven it up a little..!!! Highly recommended !!! You won't regret it..!!!!
