I booked this hostel based on good reviews on another site. I would never stay here again! My friend and I were put in different rooms, even though the rooms themselves were fine the heating was up way too high and you couldn't turn it down, plus you couldn't open the windows. Also a notice on our door indicated that there had been bedbugs there in the past. The building despite being in a nice area was very shabby and smelt of paint, there was rubbish overflowing from bins and ladders around everywhere. The showers and toilets were not clean and me and my friend both had to endure cold showers in the morning.
The hostel is in a great part of London. Closed to Camden Town and really near the centre of London. The food is not so good, but eatable. The people are very nice, from all the part of the world. They have a good stuff who makes you feel in home. Anyway, I lived there for 1 month and I liked!
Right, the food is terrible!!! However, the atmosphere is great with lots of really great people from all around the world staying there long and short term it is really interesting to meet all these people.
Cleaning regime is poor, so expect filthy showers and toilets. Despite smoking ban: residents smoke everywhere, even in showers. Severely plagued by bedbugs, it is a nightmare. Food differs from description, I was there for 8 weeks and there was never a cooked breakfast available - it is the poorest continental breakfast you can imagine. More often than not only boiled rice or pasta with beans. A number of residents consume skunk, there are drug dealers operating at the site. No lockers. Vending machines, telephones and washing machines are poorly maintained, no refund if broken. Avoid if you can.
DO NOT GO THERE !!!!!!!! the room was filthy, showers were stinky. HORRIBLE PLACE TO GO, don´t book here, disgusting place, staff rude, my stay there was a nightmare
the rooms are ok, and ive found the people who stay there to be cool as well. the problem is the food. the chef takes no pride in his work and the food is bland, boring, and at times actually quite awful. the pasta and rice dishes are always dry and the vegetables are over cooked without exception. the only redeeming feature is the soup. it pained me when i would go down for dinner to see the resident workers who had to serve it up smile apologetically. repeatedely i told managment about the poor fare but nothing was ever done.
