!City Overview
This modern city, designed by Architect Walter Burley Griffin, was built after World War II on a man made lake named after the architect. No ancient ruins here. The city has a park-like feel which is amazing as not one stood on the original site.
The city’s most impressive attractions are found in the suburb of Parkes. The National Gallery of Australia, High Court of Australia and Questacon – National Science and Technical Centre.
Landlocked, the city is surrounded by mountains and the huge Namadgi National Park to the south.
