City Overview
Capital of Northern Australia. The city, closer to Jakarta and Singapore than any other Australian city, is small, cosmopolitan, buzzing and built on a Peninsula. The central district is around Smith Street which is a pedestrian mall.

It was completely cut off from the rest of Australia until the road to Alice Springs was surfaced and now it really rocks.

The Cullen Bay Marina is home to restaurants, cafes and very expensive boats, whilst at Fannie Bay there is a sailing club, golf club, casino and the Botanic gardens.

Daily Budget
Work on approximately US$ 23 for a good time in this small, cosmopolitan city. This amount should cover a clean bed in a respectable hostel, sidewalk type food, some good beer, party time and a few attractions.
