Country Overview
This tiny country is a delightful scene of art, architecture, and some of the most delectable food in the world. It is
crammed with history and its people are friendly and welcoming, with a strong sense of family. Apart from the
glorious buildings and impressive heritage cities, it has valleys, rivers, and great forests to explore.
It is also a country that celebrates life with innumerable festivals, religious processions, and classical music
extravaganzas; in short, it is a great country to visit.
Daily Budget
Traveling costs are the least of the backpacker’s worries, as Belgium is not the biggest country in the world, but their food definitely is mind and budget blowing, and cheap hotels are far and few, and heavily booked. Therefore if aiming at the most modest of meals consider spending US$7-10, and lodging about US$20-50, with an overall daily expenditure of approximately US$50 per day.
When to Go!
April through to September is the warmest time of the year, but Belgium is always somewhat soggy, with grey skies and rain, so come prepared.
The Ommegang pageant is presented in July, when nobles in historic costumes parade the streets of Brussels in a grand display, and throughout the year there are festivals and fairs, with July 21, Belgium’s national day, being the start of the month long Brussels Fair.
