Country Overview
This is the place most people dream of when thinking about winning the lottery and telling the boss to shove it, then taking off to a tropical paradise. With an almost perfect climate, it is the ideal place for kicking back and lazing on the beach, or catching a wave or two.

Daily Budget
With cheap chow coming at about US$3 to US$10 a throw, and really low cost accommodation in the range of US$5 to US$15, it is possible to get by on US$35 a day, but it really wouldn’t be something your mom would be thrilled about. However, up the ante to US$60 a day, and life takes on brighter hue, with a comfortable bed, decent food, and enough change for a spot of travelling or seeing some paying sights.

When to Go!
If you one of those who gain energy from others and love packed beaches and crowded amenities, then the late-December to mid-April dry season is the best time for you to visit Costa Rica, but remember it is the high season and prices soar. If you would rather enjoy the amenities without sitting on your neighbours tail, but also want to avoid the soggy season of rain and impassable roads, try planning your visit around April or May, and mid-October to mid-December. In November, you can exercise your bunny-hugging, nature-loving, good-karma-seeking, self to the ultimate treat by swimming with Dolphins in Drake Bay. Then, in February/March you can enjoy the sounds of music in the South Caribbean Music Festival in Puerto Viejo.
