!City Overview
Bonn is within sight of the Siebenbirge (seven Mountains), which is a volcanic mountain range on the eastern bank of the Rhine. The range is a national park and the local wine (Drachenblut – Dragon’s Blood) is produced near these slopes. The immortal composer Ludwig von Beethoven was born here in 1770, and in celebration of its classical heritage, Bonn celebrates with annual music festivals. Germany’s largest university is also situated in Bonn as well as the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy and the Center for Advanced European Studies and Research (CAESAR) who do work of international scope.
