City Overview
This is India's biggest, fastest, richest city, teeming with people. The city has a dual identity in that 15 million residents are homeless living in cardboard shantytowns or on tiny patches of pavement while the movers and shakers retire to luxury mansions on and around Malabar Hill.
The home of Bollywood with its idolized stars and wannabes, sleek mobile phone technology and opulence is in sharp contrast to the one-dollar whores, gunmen and half naked fakirs on the streets. If it is peace and quiet you are looking for this is not a city to consider with its heavy stench, toxic pollution and teeming masses. However, if you want to experience what India is all about -Mumbai is the place to visit. Dynamite to the senses.

India is a relatively cheap country in which to travel. However, don't try to scrimp and save on seedy accommodation or dubious food. For a total onslaught of the senses whilst at the same time being clean and hygienic budget on US$31.
