Country Overview
Malaysia is a country with a fascinating blend of Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous cultures and customs, health, wealth and stress-free travel. It is also a great place to visit with a partner, because, apart from its spectacular wildlife, breathtaking natural beauty, and unique cultural heritage, it is also a place where sharing accommodation reduces costs.

Daily Budget
If you don't mind staying in cheap Chinese hotels, eating from food stalls and small local restaurants, and travelling by bus, then you can get by on about US$20-25 a day. US$65 a day will get you comfort in a decent hotel, and some pretty food at reasonable restaurants, as well as taxi fare to get around. Nota Bene: Travel with a partner sharing accommodation will reduce costs.

When to Go!
The rain in November through to January generally washes out any chance of enjoying the beaches on the east coast of the Malaysian Peninsula, for the rest of the year the country is sunny, hot and humid. In May/June the Colours of Malaysia Festival is held in various towns, when all forms of performing arts celebrate the mixture of cultures in the country. June brings the Penang International Dragon Boat Festival, when magnificently decorated boats with prows made to look like fierce dragons' heads, race against each other.
