City Overview
Faro is the capital of the Algarve. There are excellent beaches within easy reach, and in summer there's quite a nightlife scene, as thousands of travellers pass through on their way to and from the airport.

Particularly attractive is the old part of the city surrounded still by the Roman walls. There are many attractive shops and a particularly artistic theatre. Faro is also the home of the Ria Formosa lagoon, a nature reserve of over 17.000 hectares and a stopping place for hundreds of different birds during the spring and autumn migratory periods.

Daily Budget
Faro is relatively inexpensive, you can get by on a daily budget of US$45 without cutting back on too much. A daily budget of around US$90 will provide you with a platform to really explore what the city has to offer in a bit more comfort and style.
