Cadiz City Overview - History

 
Cadiz is one of Europes oldest inhabited cities, founded about 1100 BC by the Phoenicians it has been one of Spains principal ports ever since. With it's grand open squares, narrow alleyways and 18th century houses it has a tremendous atmosphere, slightly seedy and rather mysterious.

The city is legendary for its Carnaval festivities in February/March and attracts visitors year round for its excellent weather and golden pebble-strewn beaches.
