!City Overview
Murcia is a regional capital and university city found on the river Segura and was founded in 825 by the Moors. The centre of the modern city is the 18th century square, La Glorieta. The pedestrianized Calle de la Traperia, linking the cathedral and the former marketplace (now the Plaza Santo Domingo), is the city´s main street. The city is characterized by its old history of commerce and agriculture, and has many historical attractions.
