City Overview
Mwanza is Tanzania's most important port on the shore of Lake Victoria. It's a lively, bustling place in a wonderful setting, lying on a peninsula that juts out into the lake and surrounded by some rocky hills. Some very impressive granite outcrops dominate the land. The road approach is spectacular, tunnelling through some of the great boulders on this route.
The lake itself is very beautiful and dotted with many islands of varying sizes.
