Country Overview
The Kingdom of Thailand is an enchanting place of heart-stopping beauty, magnificent temples, and peaceful little villages on the banks of the Mekong River. It is also where Bangkok's modern city exists, thrusting itself brazenly skywards with soaring skyscrapers, pounding the senses with commercialism, noise, multi-laned flyovers, and a banging, bouncing, boss nightlife.
Daily Budget
Believe it or not US$16 - 20 a day will cover costs nicely in Thailand, and give the backpacker a decent time, and for US$31 daily, comfortable hotels and good restaurant food is available, outside of Bangkok, that is, where costs are about double that.
When to Go!
Between November and February the weather in Thailand is more agreeable and the rain eases off somewhat, but if your itinerary dictates visiting in March to May, then to escape the sweltering heat of the north, stick to southern destinations, and avoid Bangkok at all costs over April when you will fry, and October, when you will be drenched.
Thailand is a land of festivals, from soaking friends, family, and passing strangers, with water during the mid-April celebrations of Songdran (New Year) to the Elephant Roundup in November when the lumbering beasts limber up and kick off in an eyeball-popping football game.

Whilst the costs in BKK are cheaper - $31 for a backpacker a day is a fair price - but double outside. Don't think so - it depends on what season (high or low) and where you were - Phuket or Pattaya or Samui. Prices actually drop significantly outside of BKK.
I know so - I've visited 13 times since 1989. Ah dreams - you don't know what cheap was (LOL). No offense
