Birthplace of Motown and with a black population of 80%, Detroit is the centre of African American culture, and has amongst other attractions the Motown Museum where Stevie Wonder first played. With the recent car industry's upsurge, Detroit is fighting its way back to the position it held in the 1950's when it was the Motor City and top of the heap.
