Bruges is famous for its museums. See the fabulous collection of Belgium and Dutch paintings, including Jan Van Eyck and the master of the macabre, Hieronymous Bosch, in the Groeninge Museum. Next door is the Gruuthuise a rambling 15th century mansion which houses an amazing collection of weapons, tapestries, musical instruments and coins dating back to the 6th century.
