Spent a few good times at the Royal during my 18 months in Sydney, cold beer, good friends, apart from the night I had my wallet lifted from my pocket. Found the service good, except for the nights after the Horse Racing when the bouncers would not let you in if you were not wearing a thousand dollar suit. But there are many better bars in that area.
The hotel has no atmosphere (even after renovations). Management (mainly day) is poor and the bar tends to attaract the local drunks from the surrounding areas! i would not rec. going, give it a miss and hit the clovely hotel.
Not bad at all. Undergone a recent renovation.
Attracts lots of Nurses from the local hospital towards the end of the week.
Good food and a free courtesy bus around the immediate area. Pub is surrounded on all sides by great eating spots.
