Staff is OK except the owner (big bold guy). Ask him to put a specific game on TV and if you're not apart of a group of ten he will do cleraly make you feel that he is doing you an amazing favour (and will sometimes cut switch it off before the end). Beer is largely overpriced (for Brussels standards) and come in palstic glasses.

Well I live near Fat Boys and always go for the football and any time I have friends over we devour some burgers after nights of drinking. To me the staff have always been fine if very slow when there is a crowd at the bar when you try to order. This is not really a criticism as they are no slower, maybe even faster than usual Belgian service. Coming from a place where bar service is the quickest and best in the world I feel that way everywhere I go, including England. Vanessa is always very friendly and Bo seems fine to me, not exactly a bundle of joy but I prefer people like that than false dicks. Can I just say that anyone who gives a 5 euro top for a bill not far off a grand must be the most miserable, mean, penny pinching person on the continent although there are a lot like that in Brussels. Overall fat boys is great for sport and the food is always spot on.

allright, i had read the comments before going, and i was SCEPTIC. however ... this is what happened ... made reservation for 30persons. 22 chairs were ready. quite hectic to get everything organised. food had to come in two shifts (i can understand). serving girls were quite friendly to me, however i think they would throw the plates from the kitchen if they could. received a 875 euros bill. payed 880 euros (gave complementary 5 euros tip - mind you - tipping is NOT necessary in belgium, all prices are all incl taxes AND service) then asked the 50 euros reservation cost back, and the BOSS of the place started to whine over a 5 euro tip ... had to give 20 euros in order to get a refund of the 50 euros reservation cost. i was quite stupified and it all went so fast i had no time of thinking it trough. next time i am ready of spending 875-900 euros I WILL NOT SPEND IT THERE WITH THE OWNER THAT ACTS LIKE AN ASSHOLE AND REALLY NEEDS TO KNOW THERE ARE NO TIPS NEEDED IN BELGIUM. AND PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CALL SOCIAL SERVICES TO CHECK EVERY PERSONNEL WORKING THERE. THX FFRED. btw, i liked the burger.

what can i say....14 lads from england turn up at a sports bar in belgium in england football shirts...england v brazil.. we were made to feel amazingly welcome.... the staff went out of their way to make our visit the best. they put out the big screen for us and did not mind at all about our very loud singing. the other customers in the bar joined in with our renditions and footy chants.... the staff were great..a special mention to 2 great barmaids barbara and T. and may i say the bosses here could not have been nicer. the food was excellent..the best burgers ive ever eaten... we liked it so much we will be ging back very soon. all the best FAT BOYS The JOLLY BOYS ENGLAND

The food is pretty good, but like the drink it is overpriced. Soft drinks come out of 2 litre plastic bottles, so are generally lukewarm and flat. The owner is quite unpleasant when he is drunk.

We went there on sat 11th Nov to watch England getted smullered by Argentina. Having red the reviews, the first thing is asked when i got there was Who The F*** is Bo??? well he volunteered pretty quickly and i took the pee about whether he was bald or a skinhead and it was all taken in good spririt. He introduced us to all the staff sorted out a good table for the rugby, lovely food and a constant supply of beer. We had a great time. Go there its good. Sack Andy Robinson!!!!!

I have not actually been there, but knowing who owns the joint I can believe all of these comments, good and bad...but especially the one about how the owner is not very good looking. ANd I would never set foot in a place that has welcomed Dr. Nowicki...

We agree that Bo is not very good looking but it is still a wonderfull place to overeat, watch sports and get shot down by women, a trifecta as it were. Fortunately for Fat Boys, what Bo lacks in personality and looks is more than made up for by his striking and talented wife, Venessa. We always look forward to our next visit to Brussels and a mandatory stop at Fat Boys for one or more drinks, with an emphasis on more and of course, a visit to Gare du Nord. We arrived in Brussels from Paris on 08/28/06. We met Junior at Fat Boys our first day there and made Fat Boys our homebase. We felt like Fat Boys was incredible fun, great beer, great food, watch out for those burgers! They are amazing! The beers just kept coming, the prices to us were very reasonable, but the best part were the people! Junior, Bo & Vanessa, Lee, Paul, all made us feel like we were part of the family! We have not stopped talking about Fat Boys and cannot wait to return to Brussels to see our Friends! We would recommend this as a must stop to everyone we know!

I L-O-V-E Fat Boys! Bo and his wife are great. As an American I can testify that Fat Boys is the best place in town to go for NFL, NBA and everything in between. I was there during the last Ryder's Cup and the Europeans were cheering like mad when they beat the USA. I had Thanksgiving dinner there last year with a friend and it was almost as good as Mommy's. If you, like me, get cravings for real juicy burgers, old fashioned hot dogs and authentic chili (not the crap I've gotten at other places) don't walk, but run to Fat Boy's at Place du Luxembourg.

I am just curious. Are those two exceptional bartenders still working there? I have heard they have moved on. If that is the case, let me know cause I'd like to come back for the food.

It is a little overpriced, but I go there for 'comfort food'. I am fed up with the bland Belgian food and ultra-slow service that is the norm in Brussels, and especially in Place Luxembourg, and I agree that the Buffalo wings are great (ask for spicy sauce). The Chilli is heroic, and if they are not showing the sport you want, just ask. Regulars are always acknowledged, and the guy who thought he was being insulted by the staff maybe just took a joke the wrong way.

I have been to Fat Boys about 3 times so far. Food (esp chilli, hot wings and even burgers) are quite good compared to US standards. We also found the service to be just about normal as any bar in the US. Im surprised awhen I read the posts above - would be weird if all those things happened in a bar and would definitely offend me but I did not see or experience such behavior - maybe Im lucky!!

110% agree with Jaume! Cannot over-emphasise how awful the place is. A friend tripped on his way from the bar to our table and spilled some beer on the floor. He went to the bathroom to clean himself up and when he returned was handed a mop by the barman! When he refused to clean the floor, the barman grabbed him by his collar and told that it was " only common courtesy" to clean up! Then he kicked him out!! Is this how it works in the US?! I can only hope that this barman never loses his job in Fat Boys cos with that attitude he won't last long in any other bar! Full of Americans eating burgers, watching NFL sure that they're experiencing the best of Brussels nightlife! Aaaaagh!!!! The worst!!!!

I live in Brussesl for almost 2 years and have been there several times. I have never encountered any rude behavior or impoliteness. The personell is nice, friendly and service-orientated. Food is great! And le chef is always trying to please every guest by offering different channels. Keep on like this! Sebastian

Well, I've just popped in there today during the day. If I really get to see the Swiss Ice Hockey team in the Olympic Games, I will be definitely be there more often. And I'll try the food; but first the hockey game ;)

Well I dont know, some people are so hard to please. I have no idea how anyone can complain about the food its top banana, especially the ribs & wings (just my favorite) however the burgers & other items on the menu are just as good. Yes it is sports dominated, but err, it is a soprts bar, however even if you just want a few drinks and some healthy conversation it is there too., and usually a complement of very attractive girls.

Fat Boy's rocks! Bo and Ian make sports fans really welcome - and will try to fulfil the strangest requests - Brighton v Crystal Palace, anyone? The food and beer are excellent too! Nick, Fan of Chelsea, England and the Seattle Seahawks Strasbourg, France

Well, the service and the atmosphere are so bad and ugly that I do recommend not to go there unless you are an NFL die-hard fan. Unfortunately this is the only place where you can watch NFL games in town (to my knowledge). The owner (some sort of skinhead) openly despises customers unless you have a huge bill (50 EUR+) and this might not even be enough. The waiters are two little poor babies, posing and playing the tough guys, thinking they are so trendy and so smart, treating customers like sh*t. Pathetic. Absolutely pathetic. A piece of advice: go there to watch the games, but try to limit your consumptions in this sh*thole.

Only o.k if you are a true sports fan. The food is poor, prices are high (for the low quality) the service I exprienced is quite ok. Beside the various screens showing all kinds of sport - nothing special.

Yes like Jaume says, is not worth it to talk about trash people but about the polite girl that was serving us last Sunday, never, we can never say never...
Rating-1Rating-0Rating-0Rating-0Rating-0
I agree with Jaume, it was incredible behaviour. Having been a bartender myself, their behaviour completely unacceptable. They were patronizing and sarcastic (" I'm a cuusstommmerr, who cares..." was a typical response). Obviously being a rarity to see some of the games they show give them sort of high - "treat me like king or NO SPORTS FOR YOU!!" something out of Seinfeld! Unfortunately the food is great and yes you get to see some great games but for that sort of treatment- I'd invest in a satelite!!! It was the second time I have been there and definitely the last...

Go there if you feel like being treated like shit. The two waiters will make sure to do their best. I will never go back to that place. The waitress was polite, nice, just the normal way. Those two little rats were arrogant, agressive, and after I paid my third 15 Euros round of beers for my friends, and I told them how rude they were being, they told me that a 15 Euros customer was not a customer, and that maybe I thought I was someone special. Amazing. The owner was around, and he allowed their behaviour. I am not expecting much from white trash people, but a customer is a customer, 5, 10, 15, or 100 Euros. I do not even know why I waste my time writting about those two poor little things. They probably did not get late last night.

Yes, everything above is true, probably the only real sports bar left in Brussels. Bo, the owner prides hilmself on the variety of different sports always available on a number of different screens. Special or very popular events are shown on the giant screen. When you go there try the buffalo wings, definately the best outside the USA. A great shame that it is a bit out of the way in Pls Luxembourg but well worth a visit or 5.

THE place to be if you like to watch any kind of sport (over 10 tv and a big screen). they broadcast NFL, NBA, MBL, all European league football (soccer) and if you ask very kindly even the women handball worldcup. ;-) they have it all. Plus a very international (american mostly) crowd, great staff, great spirit, nice people, very easy to start meeting people. And.... last but not least... the food. The best burgers of Brussels, no Europe. Great chilli sauce, great hotdogs,... Only one way to find out for yourself, go there. Fat Boys - Place Luxembourg.
