Amazing Bar!!!! I have been in many countries over the last ten years and as a true scotsman been to many bars, the Cambie is undoubtedly the best bar I have ever been to. Why is it so good?? First of all cheap beer and good food bust most importantly the people who drink there. There is a mixture of young ,old, students, professionals, bums, hippys,more bums, gays, straight, good looking, awful looking, backpackers and locals. The large picnic table style seats encourages to socialize with people other than you arrived with. I have met many people there who are still good friends many years later and i cant wait to get back there. As soon as return to vancouver i will be going straight there!
Wow...I am a straight woman. I was at the Cambie with my boyfriend and met a nice young man who I later found out was gay. When my botfriend came back from the bathroom I introduced him and the guy said "hey, don't worry, I'm gay!" so that there would be no confusion that he was trying to be lecherous/ pick up on me. As soon as he said so, he was attacked by a young man who punched him in the face. Security came and began to escort the guy out who I was speaking to and when we explained what had happened they said"we don't care, you're out of here!" . The guy who had originally assaultred the "gay" guy who I was talking to started breaking bottles to assault us and then attacked my boyfriend when he told him to stop breaking bottles. All 4'10" of me was escorted out by three security guards who allowed the fag bashers to hit/kick/etc...me all the way out of the door. I do not know what happened to the gay man I met...but I assume it was no better than the treatment we got.

it was very nice have been at The Cambie in 2001 wille studding at ILSC!!
The Cambie is the best backpackers bar in town where the locals meet the travllers for a amazingly intoxicated time!!!!
