I love it! I go there alot.
I previously enjoyed this pub until my last experience where I had forgotten my credit card at the register at the end of the night as I had run for a cab. It was held at the register because I had placed a tab. I had later contacted them so I could retrieve my card and the gentleman informed me that they do not have it. I know for a fact that was where it was left so I had called to cancel my credit card. Now it seems as the credit card has had purchases made on it since I last had it in my possession.
I called back and spoke to the manager informing him of the situation and that either A-the credit card was stolen by an employee or B-they gave my credit card to somebody else.
The manager had nothing other than 'Ah sh*t.....uuummmm....uummmmm's to say followed by 'nobody stole your card' instead of saying I trust my employees’ fully and have every faith they would not have stolen your card' which I would have fully understood because I feel the same about the people I work with. No apologies’ for the inconvenience or misunderstanding, no offer of any sort of discount/compensation, no notion that he will bring the matter up to the staff and make sure it doesn’t happen again, literally nothing of any use. Also no interest in keeping my business after he let out a few more 'umm's then finally 'I don’t know what else to tell ya.' I told him I will no longer be coming to that establishment. A simple I'll make sure to remind the staff to be more careful would have sufficed and I would have continued going there but such a blatant lack of concern is ridiculous.
I work in customer service and flat out refuse to be an irate customer who makes a scene, starts shouting or brings up issues in an unreasonable manner but it really makes me wonder if it would have made him take the scenario a little more seriously considering credit card fraud and identity theft is a growing issue.
Not impressed, don't forget your card before you go!!!

In town for a fortnight, I stumbled into the villiage and found The Toad In The Hole Pub.
It was a very busy night & I met scads of really good Canadians.
I reckoned they might be used to it because it's a pub but the girls really liked the accent, so I played it up and played with them!!Thanks for the snog Trish.
The Cavern downstairs had a brilliant band & the bartender (Kevin I think) was spot on!!

The Toad & now The Cavern are the best of both worlds. If I don't like the band (which is never) I know I can just go upstairs & hang with the usual suspects!!!
Since the boys opened up The Cavern it's become a meeting place for all the local musicians. I was in the other night & talked to 3 different guys from 3 different bands ! It's great to see everyone supporting each other.
Who the hell is Jesse Frog anyway? I've heard nothing but respect & support from everyone at The Toad/The Cavern.....they really give a shit about the local scene. It's not "Frog in the Hole" buddy....is that the real reason you gotta bad mouth these guys? Grow up....

A horrific place.
The owners rip off the bands. Complete dicks. Expensive pints and alcaholic ambience. An overall "must-not", unless you want to get kicked out by a large meat-head thug who speaks in prime-time tounges.
The toad kicks ass. Amazing staff, people, and food. Might I add a great variety of beer. I met my girlfried there. It's a place to go when you want to meet people and hang out. Thank you toad for being the best bar in Winnipeg
---I think the new and improved TOAD is great---good to see the beer taps flowing faster now- Des was and still is a great character eventhough it sometimes took a while to get 'yer pint--the ROCK N' ROLL breaffast's are also damn fine. Love the rustic decor/charm---don't change that at all .---Does the TOAD plan to have any World Cup 2006 specials ?? Get the soccer fans in !!!
hello there its a great move now that they are bring back the band. being the only regular oriental guy there some years back i must say that the place really rock.
its kinda sad to read some of this dufuss reviews .
anyways, if i'm not wrong theres a " toad on main" (main street), you guys should try it too,
dont know if it is still there now that they have change management.

I've been a fan of the Toad's for years, and wasn't too sure what to think when I heard it was for sale. I found myself down there on Saturday as I heard the new owners were "Getting the Band back together." How cool to see The Blues Brothers Band play to a dancing, screaming and enjoying house for their ffirst annual Halloween Bash. Way to go Michael and Daniel. If this is a sign of things to come, I'd say you guys are on the right path!!

My credit card # was stolen by one of the servers here. She bought 400 bucks worth of Victoria Secret stuff and 90 bucks at Canadian Tire.ca.

So you think it should be DIRTY & not kept up in order for it to FEEL like a pub?Those guy are doing great & if you don't like it, see how much your Shannons or O'Connors FEELS like a pub? The Toad is THE BEST pub in town!!!! Regulars don't bad-mouth their local.
I like to agree with regular no.1(2005-06-15}yes its clean but it is quickly loosing its pub like feel, but all is not lost, Des is back in action on the Saturday afternoon shift, Bob Dylan, a joke here and there and sport on the TV.
I really like how clean and well kept the bar is now, but it's starting to loose it's pub like feel. I hope that Daniel and Michael will continue to make an effort to keep this pubs mellow, chilling out style atmosphere.
I gotta say The Toad is one of the best places in town to get a pint ( & a cold one at that!! )The place is finally clean & it seems Michael & Daniel really do give a shit about the folks walkin' through the doors.The band they have are great & I hear there's gonna be live music more often ! YAAAAAHHHH!!! Gotta support the local scene.
The Vinyl Drip on Sunday nights kicks ass ! You really have to come down to check that out. Vive La Toad !!!!!!

Kit, Phil is a staple to the bar, although Mick was fabulous, now he is just fabulous accross the street. No need to be hasty.
Al brennen doesn't know what he's talking about so maybe this site should just be about the Toad and no nasty stuff about other people.

The Osborne Village, surrounded by the wasteland called Winnipeg, is a fantastic Canadian destination. Lots of great shops have beautiful people rushing, suantering, and begging in and out of them. They are nestled neatly Next to, above, and across from the Toad in the Hole Pub. Fantastic Fare, Festivious Drinking, and VERY friendly staff. (hey jon, let go of the place like your family did, put on a smile, and be nice to the new owners. They're trying, just like you did.) People that know me know not to ask me where I want to go when we go because the answer is always the same. Can you guess where that is? Anyone? Just shout it right out if you know the answer. Do yourself a good turn. Go have a pint at the Toad.

Well here we go... I'm doing this on the fly & have not really prepared anything but here goes.... I, along with Daniel Pedley are the new Proprietor's of The Toad In The Hole. I want to start by acknowlegeing all of the people that have been a part of the "family for a long, long time.... Dez,Phil,Alistar,Steve,Maria,Stevie,Cliff,Mena & now Kevin & Brent. There have been alot of changes since we've taken over & while I understand most people don't want change, I believe we have changed things for the better. Most things will go unnoticed & that's fine. But one thing Everyone has noticed & thanked us for is a brand new state of the art beer system & walk in cooler so we can deliver a Quality, Cold Pint every time. Not to mention wait time for a beer has decreased dramatically. I have been a regular down at The Toad for 15 years now & I have been in this business for 20.I like to think I know what works & one of the things that won't change at The Toad is the ambiance. You can paint the colors of the flag all you want & call yourself a British pub...It doesn't always make it so. At The Toad you can feel it in your bones. It's not really our position to try to convince anyone about anything we are trying to do, & I'm not about to start casting aspertions towards any percievd shortcommings directed towards the previous owners. All I can tell you is Daniel & I have a passion for what we do & I think this has been evident in the last 7 weeks. I guess you'll just have to come down to The Toad & see for yourself. Quality food,COLD BEER & a refreshed new attitude !!! That's our promise to you. And to all the usual suspects who have been there for years & have come up to me & Daniel with a congragultory pat on the back...We say Thank You

Experience clean friendly environment sanity toilets with toilet paper at last! the whole place has been cleaned from top to bottom after 15 years of neglect, staff and owners a friendly bunch you cant tell the difference between staff and owners laid back always knowing your name and greeting you with a smile gone are the old surly owner with her family in tow. The food not fancy but good home made fare British north American try the real haddock fish and chips toad in hole fantastic gravy steak and kidney pie. bangers and mash peter sellers ( rip)would be proud of you cottage pie with home made potato topping the skins fries nachos pilled high toad burger try it you will never eat at burger king again. curry and chips the curry sauce you couldn’t find better in the uk.and last but not lease the tradition English breakfast with yummy sausages great after a nights drinking a cure for the worse hangover. daily special home made soups your grandmother would die to try !all cooked by maria the little Italian Canadian darling lady cool import and export beers from fort Garry to Guinness Kilkenny all served up with a smile and a joke by Irish Scottish des the old timer. phil from Cornwall England born at gimli hospital Canada if you are into good music ask phil to put it on. a hit with the ladies a sort of peter pan character never seems to get old, some of the old regular farts think he is rude and not forgetting Allister the Canadian always so attentive to one needs, if you have had a few too many he will make sure you get home safe and sound live music every weekend, want to have a good time visit the place you will not be sorry.
I've been going to the toad for a while. The comments from that jon guy make me laugh, I've always liked the place. As a matter of fact its gotten even better lateley!!!!!
The new guys are great, The staff seems to love them, and the place is damn nice! Its not fancy its a great place for a brew and a relaxing decent pub meal after a long day.
COME DOWN AND CHECK IT OUT. I think you'll like it.
HEY JON I guess you haven't changed over the years. If you still drink (and toke) as much as you use to maybe thats why the family sold the place.
At least the new owners care about the staff and want the patrons to enjoy the place. They even did somthing you couldn't seem to do(they cleaned it).
It's a nice place to take your lady or to meet friends so quit mouthing off and just order a beer and relax.
