Dudes! I was in town - Shanghai, that is - for 2 nights, and on a bloody Tuesday and Wednesday and this bar rocked. Wednesday was an open mike night, with some interesting characters.
Tanghui - that great little bar - is now a great big bar @ 85 Huating Road (cnr of Huaihai Road). 4 floors and 2 seperate stages, means two bands can play concurrently. Beer 30 RMB for pint; 20 RMB for bottles.
Tanghui is definitely the coolest bar in Shanghai, and I hear that it will re-open on May 12 in the new location of Huaihai Road and Huating Road; right next to the Changshu Road Subway (exit 1).
Xingfu Road...near Fahuazhen Road. Great little bar, interior: antique chinese, opium beds, little stage with local and foreigners jamming on a daily basis.
