If you fancy a bit of home while in north China this is it.. great guys and staff, and people who speak English .. which in these parts are few and far between .. Guys were full of helpfull advice and local knowledge.. thanks again..Jake (slowbikes.com)
I have just returned to Australia after three weeks in Urumqi, Hotan and Kashgar and Fubar has it all!! Good music, ok food, up to date travel advice and a wide range of beers. On my second visit, they remembered exactly what I had ordered before. The new outdoor beer garden is a plus, even though it feels like a prison looking through the high steel fence bars towards a large public park. However the main plus is the other patrons. I have never before come across such an amazing assortment of fellow drinkers, every one of them interesting in one way or another! The remoteness of the place certainly encourages independent travellers but the range of backgrounds was incredible. The owners are about to open a bar in Kashgar. No doubt that will be the place to go soon!
I went to dinner at Fubar tonight. About 40 minutes after we ordered, the waitress told us that they had no vegetables,but someone was out buying some. It would be another 15 minutes before there would be vegetables to cook with. It took over 1 1/2 hours before our food arrived. To top off the experience, our original bill overcharged us by 36 RMB. This will in all likelihood be our last trip to Fubar.
a wonderful experience. i visited fubar last year when i was passing through urumqi, and should comment on just how vibrant the atmosphere and how colourful the people were: expats from weird and wonderful walks of life and locals from different minority groups all made toward a most memorable evening. One of the owners, Irish, was pretty hillarious and pretty sexy too!
Only Western bar in Xinjiang. Great beer sleection, great pizza, great music. Also has pool table, and foosball.
