After being verbally and physically abused by the owner for having the audacity to smoke a cigarette outside the pub, outside the designated paramaters of the property - and this was in front front of my wife, kids and colleagues - I doubt I'll be rushing back. This plastic paddy ned and his neandrathal behaviour may be acceptable in the east end of Glagow - it certainly doesn't belong in Hong Kong.
Lovely pub. Best German beer on draft in the islands. Govner is the best Celtic supporter on the island. Would go back again any time and would reccommend it to any one.
stan sullivan and david ranger go suck a nut ya toss pots, CHINA BEAR is by far the best pub in HK, friendly excellent service from such great scots and staff not to mention the foood! its mouth watering.. literally to die for its that good. prices are great and the lads such a laf.

i was a worker on the airport when it was getting built fron 95-98 and had foned memories of Papa docs.Jamsie and Paul (good celtic man)where always helpfull to everyone who drank (to much) and ate there.can´´t say much about how the food is now but then it was proper british grub the steak sanie was always a fav.
I hope the food and company is as still as good and that Paul is a happier celt
Very rude Scottish staff with overpriced food and beer. Much better going to the Dai Pai Dongs on the water front where you get great food at half the price. I was shocked at how bad the service is, its seems the staff (especially the owner) are trying to bring all the worst elements of a rough Glaswegian boozer to the peaceful shores of Lantau.
This pub is exceptional i luv it the food is the best in hk who ever said it woz rubbish n mcd'z is better is totoaly rong!!!
I agree with Charles, worst pub in HK, run by rude Scottish midgets, the food is so bad for once McDonalds is the better option. Vastly over rated. I wonder when the authorities are going to close them down for taking illegal feeds from Thai tv etc, can only be a matter of time
Totally agree, one word sums the place sh*t. Heard it was for sale, only way they would get any money for that is if they got hit by a bit of Jewish lightening!!
Are ypu sure? Whoever wrote this review obviously has a stake in the business. It's by far and away the worst pub in HK run by the rudest people in Kowloon. The quality of food is appaling, Sunday roast, laughable, McDonalds next door is your best bet.
Good location for people and boat watching. Food was good value, but I went for the Micro-brewed beer which they didn't have. Had to settle for a tin of Tetley's! Bizarre. Good quality t-shirt for about GBP10. Will try them again when I'm in the area.
Rising, phoenix-like, from the ashes of 'Papa Docs' across the road, this place is run by two expat jocks, one is the Director of Sport the other is the Director of Architecture. Best pub food in HK, try the 'World Cup Buffet' - different class. Good choice of beers, you can sit outside and gaze at HK, pool table in the back, jukebox for tunes (just don't ask for recommendations behind the bar). Pantomime selection of regulars (special mention to the 'Big Yin' and 'Das Boot'), quiz last Thursday of every month (prizes exceptional), really good party nights for Halloween and Hogmanay when DJ Docco cranks 'em tunes oot. Popular choice on a Sunday for proper roast dinners, especially with the disenfranchised expats from Discovery Bay desperate to interact with real people. Coach parties by appointment, junk trips dock right outside. And the bogs piss all over 'Felix'. Dress to distress.
