I've been to this pub a few times so far and will NEVER go back. Yes, the atmosphere is lovely and decorations very nice but the bar staff are a disgrace! They are intimidating, aggressive, and leaning towards violent: one customer was grabbed, dragged through the bar and thrown into the street. He had been sitting near my group throughout the evening and was treated as such for no apparent reason. In my opinion the high customer turn over from tourists has allowed staff to disregard courtesy and hospitality. AVOID!

Was there on Saturday night last and have to say I was shocked. The rudeness of one of the barman coming to closing time was disgraceful. I was there with a group of over 10 and we were literally forced out the door. He was unneccesarily rude and disrespectful. We had no problem being served a drink near to closing time but were then told we "should of drank them quicker" as we were being moved from the smoking area into the bar and swiftly out the door. My friend informed me it was the same barman whom on a previous visit to the pub had said to her, after she asked for a glass water, "if you're, staying you're paying". I would strongly discourage any tourists to Dublin visiting this bar as there are far better throughout the city. My first and last visit to this bar. From reading the previous review it's obvious this wasn't a once off. Im a pretty laid back person and this is the first time iv ever felt compelled to write an online review but after Saturday night and the attitude and disrespect shown by this barman in the Celt I vowed not to let this go. Considering this is quite a touristy pub I'd hate to think any visitor to Ireland might have the same experience. So much for Irish hospitality.

I have drunk in The Celt in Talbot street a few times for the last 10 years. It used to be a pub with good craic and live music. However last Friday after two rounds and still two glasses of beer not finished we were asked by the barman if we were ok, it was 9:30, we were 6 people and we were kind of waiting for the music to start to make up our minds whether to stay or go, we were also considering to have dinner there,so the answer to the barman was that we were ok for the moment and to my surprise his answer was that the seats we had could be taken by people who were drinking. Basically he threw us out and so we left without believing our ears.Nearly 20 years frequenting pubs in Dublin and this is the first time this occurs to me. If you are looking for a pub in Dublin there much better ones than the Celt in Talbot st. or at least friendlier. Slainte

I was in Dublin a few years ago for a long weekend, my mates and i thought we would call in for a swift one before heading to town and never left. Have been back a good few times since. Dublin is not Dublin without a visit to the Celt, great people, great music, great bar. See you in a few weeks.

I have been many times in these pub. Although they have good music, after having two drinks there in an hour, I was asked several times to have another one by one of the waiters. He was very rude and he had no manners. It is an episode that has been repeated and they did not show any respect for the customers many times so I decided not to go. There are much nicer pubs in Dublin where they treat you with respect.

I went to Ireland a couple of years ago to live there. At the beginning I was leaving in a hostel and some people I meet there took me to The Celt. After that I assure myself a flat near that pub I was visiting it two or three times a week in the two years I stayed in Dublin. Is just the best pub in Dublin, I found there what I spected of an auld and familiar irish pub.

It is a must! Got a hint on the internet, went there (june -06). Ahh!. Travelled all around the Ireland, the Celt was the place to visit again. Live music varies from trad. to more pop, depending of the band.I had an extremely homely experiences there. There, it was an opportunity to taste the Guinness Tucan -brew, and I tried to get the pronounciation right: After six or seven Guinness, you can figure, for a scandinavian...(ok, easy)

THE pub to go to in Dublin! I was in Dublin for 4 nights and went there every night. Great staff and very good prices...at least 2 euro cheaper then the over rated Temple Bar area.

Looked nothing special but was one of the finest watering holes I have had the pleasure to visit. The Celt has it all nice people, ambience, music, craic and a creamy pint of the black stuff. Pity about the one negative the middleaged guy with a large gap between his two front teeth harassing females while the management seemed to ignore his behaviour despite complaints. Apart from that WONDERFUL PUB I will return.

A friend of mine is being stationed at a diffrent base so a group of friends and I got together for one last trip to dublin. We ran into this Pub the Celt and it is by far the best pub we have been to in Dublin. Great atmoshpere, extremely nice people. The band that played there live Celtic Dream was awesome. this is what i expect from a real irish Pub. I will go back soon before i leave Europe

I have walked past this pub many times and it does not look anything special. On our last night in Dublin we were walking back to our B&B and heard the music and buzz coming this little gem of a pub. We decided to go for one last drink but ended up staying until closing time. Great music, great fun and the best atmosphere we experienced this weekend. Will definitely be coming here again and again.

Actually I wouldn´t have gone in at all because it doesn´t look like much from outside but one of my friends insisted. I´m not big into pubs but thought "what the heck". Boy, I´ve never been so glad to be wrong. The place is homey and lively, the people wonderful and friendly. The music live most of the time, and really, really good. One group was selling their cd for 10 pounds and to this day I regret not buying it (I was running out of cash by then!). We ended up returning every night and will be one of the first places I go when I return to Dublin.

This is the pub that keeps us saving to return to Dublin every year. Noel and his staff are the friendliest people we met in Dublin and made us more than welcome, along with all his regulars who we know well now, and managed to teach a few songs to in the back room!! This is the pub for REAL traditional Irish music and craic! Are there any other pubs in Dublin? We didn't notice after discovering this one, see you all again soon!

I was also a regular in the Celt when living in Dublin for 4 yrs best thing for me was the music and especially a band called Celtic Dream they introduced me to the song "Black is the Colour" this song opened a whole can 'o' worms: Jordi

For me, The Celt is the best pub I´ve ever been!! I was there for first time in 2003, we discover the pub for a band, that played there, and we were almost everyday!! live music, people dancing and nice staff!!! This summer I came back Dublin, and the first pub that I went was the Celt, and all my friends wanted to repeat and came everyday!!

Stumbled across The Celt on the way back to my hostel after spending a evening at the big tourist drinking establishments in Temple Bar. Small, crowded, dark -- great! But it was the music, in particular, that kept me coming back. Fine, impassioned singing and playing by people who were obviously enjoying themselves. Went to The Celt a dozen times on my two Irish backpacking sojourns, and am the proud possessor a black Celt polo shirt. My favorite pub in Dublin -- bar none.

We have been regulars here for about 4/5 years and this is THE best pub in Dublin. We have a lot of regulars that keep coming back, and we meet so many cool people there that come to visit Dublin. The music is second to none. Friday and Saturday nights are the best, so come on down and check it out, there'll always be a friendly face. It's a real melting pot, young and old, all different kinds of people.

The Celt is one of the reasons why I´m visit Dublin for every St. Patricksday since 5 years and an absolutle must. The best mixture of a traditional and modern pub.
*****
This is exactly the type of pub we expected to see in Dublin. Live music, singing, dancing and best of all, it wasn't a tourist pub. Pure gold.

I loved it... if you go to Dublin it is A MUST to visit The Celt Bar... just do it!

The Celt on Talbot Street in Dublin is a must visit pub. I was in Ireland in 2003 and the group was all girls. We stumbled upon The Celt and fell in love with it. The people inside were friendly and the staff befriended us. We even got to stay when the pub was closed and they cleaned up. The live music was great and it was so energetic. It was the best pub we visited. Every night we went out in Dublin we made sure most of our time was spent in The Celt. I hope someday to go back!
