The Scene is alright but.... by SoCal Tico
The party is fun at this hostel but the rooms are kind nasty and don't bother the blond girl at the front desk for anything while she is drinking/working. God forbid she do her job! There are much better options in Bocas.
great place to stay. safe, clean, don't think they had hot water but you don't really need it. free breakfast. kitchen available to all. bar with great drink & beer specials. fun environment and close to town, the beach, and its where the party's at!
What can I say, this is THE hostel to stay in when in Bocas del Toro. I was sick as a dog for half the time, and i still had a brilliant time there.
The staff are legends, the bar is class, (good drink, good price, great combination), the bed and rooms basic, but clean and comfortable.
Best decision I made in bocas,to take the advice of another traveller and stay here!
yes mondo is a great place....dan ,daniel, dave and even brian are doing a great job...eduardo has to be the best bar tender on isla colon, so if you get a chance and you wana have fun its a party all year round check it out... i personally prefer heike as a hostle its owned by the same people who own mondo, but on central park its cleaner and quieter.
Sweet place fosho, can get private rooms for when you hook up with the fine bartender...wait, sorry that was a dream. Nice folks with good advice on fun and surf. Go scuba in Bocas, its amazing!
I got stuck at mondo for a long time, rented the crows nest out and could have stayed longer. them fellers are prurtey nice and I loved the smile on tanyas face when i would limp to the bar for another tequila suicide
Ohhhh yeaa you gota go..Ive travelled for a year now, and mondo rates by far at the top..congrats to the owners cuz this place is the best hostel ive been to..I dont think youll find someone to disagree..wicked bar, super nice owners, nice rooms, this place is all around awesome..the attmosphere makes you realize why you sold everything and left in the middle of the nite to go backpacking..(maybe not everyone lol) I think of this place weekly and reminise...word of advice, if you want some fun, go on wednesday..make sure you have a bed for the weekend, and just wait for the crazyness to unfold...

I spent three months traveling down through central america, and on the last leg of my trip I stayed at Mondo Taitu, by far the most fun I had in that three months. Friendly, cool people, layed back, cheap!!, and a great bar. I couldn't say enough good things about it. And the boat ride to get to Bocas Del Torro where Mondo is located is amazing. You gotta go!
Hey i really agree with you all! i had a great time at this bar! There are many tourists from all over the world coming and it is always crouded. They have awesome activities (especially on fridays) and in the time you come there is always a happy hour for beer or a cocktail! The bartenders look cool, especially the rasta, a new bartender over there. That makes you feel even more that you are abroad!

I definitely agree. I spent a week at Mondo Taitu and couldn't have enjoyed it more. The owners are extremely nice and always willing to help. They gave me great advice on how to spend my time. Not to mention the amazing bar. It's a must see atmosphere..best in all of Central America.
it is the best hostel ever. i just had an awesome time there. the owners are great as well and sometimes the also throw up... :-) i stayed there for a week and was drunk all the time. the hostel has a capacity of about 40 people and therefore the atmosphere is really cool. especially for people who travel alone it is quite easy to get to know some other people. they have a happy hour every day (beer 50 cents) so you won"t be bored if you go to this hostel. the price for one night in a dorm is dollars....
The owners are fun and the bartender Tanya is a must to see. The drinks are inexpensive but the best thing is that the place is a blast!!!!
..I completely agree with the last review. This bar kicks ass. When I was there the owners were throwing a party, the place was packed, and the shots kept getting cheaper throughout the night. By the end of the night a shot of tequila only cost 50 cents...now that's a place worth partying at.
By far the best bar to be found in Panama. When I visited, the Mondo Taitu was packed with travelers in town for the Reef International Surf Competition. Just cheap drink, cool atmosphere, long happy hours, and plenty of travelers looking for wild times. Anything goes at night here. Complements to them for being the only bar on the island (perhaps even all of Panama) to serve Jagermeister shots.
