Very expensive and distasteful by gilltroy
We arrived in Santa Ponsa in late September. The weather was glorious, the resort and beach clean, the accommodation basic but adequate and then The Dubliner. We were told to eat and drink there. What a recommendation. It was awful. The food was average but very expensive as were the drinks. The owner sat talking to us and we found her to be very slating of her competition and wwe didnt appreciate it. We were here on holiday and we didnt want to know about her problems with other bars or owners. She was very vindictive and everyone was a gypsy according to her but we thought she came from gypsy stock herself, she had the appearance of one and seem to attract a fair amount of them in her bar.
Back to the food it was below average and the price of drink was extremely expensive. All in all a very over rated bar with a very paranoid owner, we won be back there but would highly recommend Santa Ponsa.
Went to Santa Ponsa in July and was recommended to go here for food. Never again, apart from being sectarian, singing rebel Irish songs the food and drink were daylight robbery and rough. There is no attraction here stay awy from this one. Santa Ponsa is nicer than this.
What is this place? Food is well below average. Cockroaches on the terrace and when I asked one of the staff they admitted there were cockroaches in the kitchen.
The owner an overweight sweaty lady whos loud and obnoxious was running every other bar down but hers of course. Bad service food and attitude, would not recommend, stay clear of this one, go to the Pizza restaurant accross the road cant remember the name but it was classy and tasty.
Just returned from a fantastic holiday in santa ponsa unfortunatly the entertainment wasn't as fantastic. Our hotel was on the strip where all the irish pubs were and i can say i was disgusted at the amount of mind numbing sectarian so called "entertainment" that i heard. Walked out of many of the bars here and the dubliner was the worst. The crowds were shouting requests to the band such as neil diamond etc and yet they sang yet another song about the IRA!!! Would they be so entertained if someone was singing about the UVF???? Could've started a riot but easier to walk away. Not a family pub-aviod it like the plaque-unless that is you're a fan of the IRA. SO MUCH FOR THE PEACE DEAL OF NORTHERN IRELAND!!!!! HOW ABOUT BRINGING IT TO SANTA PONSA????
Jimmys my boyfriends grandad he grew up there and has worked there loadsa times love the girls there they are all so nice and play great music. get the pizza if your going to the restaurant and the homemade garlic sauce is lovely!
What a stinking horrible venue. Prices are a rip off. Music is ok but the staff are unfriendly and only want your money. Wont be back completely overrated. By the way the food sucks too, go to Mrs Murphy Kitchen for decent food.
Used to work in this bar a good few years ago, what a great place, havent been over in a while, but will be in to torture you all in August, see ya then folks.. xx

Easily the best pub in santa ponsa. Jim made my little boys holiday and he keeps talking about him now.

the dubliner is the best place to go. the bar staff are so friendly and the band is great and vinnie is so cute. if you want a great night and listen to some great music head to the dubliner
the dubliner santa ponsa is great was just over there and want to go back th band the paddywacks are legends be back sept cant wait

im just bak 4rm santa ponsa yesterday......it was da best...was in da dubliner evry nyt sum laff.....da band called da paddywacks were deadly and evry1 was soooo nice!!! ill definitly be goin vak soon....and da bois outta da band jim and vinnie even gev us free cd on our last nyt!!! this place is one of the best bars in santa ponsa been there five times and always had ta drop in for a bit of craic great laugh with the boys and me been from laoise would make it all that bit better lol and great food next door to so if ur going drop in or just stay at home ur probly an antydepresson anyway............

two fine things singing in the band, called the Paddywhacks, bar staff really really sound. all sorts of songs sang, great place to get pissed and then leave to head to the rest of the irish pubs.....
best pub in santa ponsa, great staff,great live music well worth a visit... the dubliner all the way

sorry jim hoped to be coming to santa ponsa in oct but will have to wait till next year booked to go to dublin the second week in nov do you have any places there that is as good as the dubliner ? HOPE SO NEVER BEEN BEFORE . see ya next year the glasgow regulars xxx
i really think think more people should know about dirty nellys it is santa ponsas biggest shit hole check out their furniture ..................oh baby ......... and there drink is very special .......the dubliner is the only half decent place im pretty sure jim and co.could play pretty much any thing check the place ouy

hi santa ponsa been over there 4 times this year jim you must be sick of seeing me and all my mates will be back over in october and may wee have such a good laugh over there but it would be better if you took more reqests and to stop self indulging ha ha .
one of the best bars in santa ponsa,a band called the paddywhacks play their everynight top class band and try the rebel bar lovely owners

just returned from 2nd visit this year. my husband, 17 yr old daughter, 14yr old son and i. once again found ourselves there most nights. bar staff very friendly and the band fabulous! jim has an amazing voice. thanks again jim for singing grace seemed you were singing it just to me. see you again in october 2007
love the dubliner, worked there for 2 months and had the time of my life, best ints of guinness in santa ponsa and class music!! JIM play the big strong man!! miss ye all loads!!
the band 3-4 y ago @ dubliners was called gazoline - they rocked the shit out of everyone. unfort. they split up, wim (the drummer) seems to be in tenerife again, rene is in berlin (?), and the singer/bassis dude emil - find him @ myspace.com - I wish they played there again, they pimped my vacation!!

Just wondering if anybody could help me i was on hoildays there 3-4 years ago and out of seven nights i was there 6 nights, i loved the Dubliner i heard a band there and cant remember the bands name but they were from Kildare and Dublin it was three in the band, im trying to track the band down, they were deadly and great criac they were only plaing over there for the summer??? 6 of us are back from a week over there and spent every night in the Dubliner as it was great craic the staff were great and James (a good friend of ours) was simply the best. George you need a good hiding. James, Kerry and Shannon big Hi from Dublin x
always go to the dubliner great for all the gaa sports great food too normal bar prices and their live music is always brill well be there again this year cant wait up the rebels
was there with 6 of my friends every night had a ball plenty of single girls listening to the bands definetly going back soon
if ur going to santa ponsa the dubliner is the place to be always has .it seems to allways have some great music but the guy from dublin is top class check him out then stick around for some cool bands
we have been going to santa ponsa for years all the bars are pretty ok the dubliner is our favourite place we love to hear live music so its worth visiting for a few pints and a bit of dancin i strongly advise against durty nellys the staff tried to sell us drugs and there manager turned a blind eye so keep a good eye on your drinks up there especially if youre a girl
