I think david and kelly are living in cloud cuckool land, murphy's has the best thai food on the island, theres no british food on the menu, lots of western food....burgers, fish n chips, steaks etc....black jacks is a filthy kip located in a shithole...so if these two like filthy kips located in shitholes you can understand why they don't like murphys, the best irish bar in the world....

I have to agree with the plus votes for this bar, had many great nights there last year going back again this year. From the regular bands to the quiz nights to Mr Logan turning up for a few numbers it was hard to beat for entertainment. But the real reason for its popularity is the fact that its an Irish bar and no matter what part of the world your in you know your gonna have a great night in a good, no frills, what you see is what you get,Irish bar.

Like everyone who has posted b4 me, i to reguarly vistit thailand. and feel samui is one of my most fav places, especially on a night out @ Murphys watching the roaring bhoys. definetly the most talented band giging in thailand today! songs and laughs all night long. u gotta check it for the great atmosphere, sure, u can go other places, but bet ur evening wouldnt be as good as a night on the piss in murphys ;)

Definitely a must in Koh Samui. Just spent a couple of weeks there and it was really the liveliest bar on the island, espicially on St Paddy's day...a great night had by all. Great food at reasonable prices and a fantastic band, The Roaring Bhoys, play a few nights a week, check them out if you can.

My wife and I have been going to Koh Samui for 10 years or so . We were there for the opening of Murphys and have seen it flourish . Paul and all his staff have made our stays more enjoyable with their friendliness and professionalism .

I disagree with the last comment on this same establishment. I go to Samui frequently and this place you must try. It can be rather busy but the service and food are econd to none for value for money. The owner Paul puts everything into his business and treats his staff and customers with the utmost respect. On holiday you want good food! You want a cold beer or at least a good choice You also wanted to be treated well and be comfortable in an environment away from the norm which is home. Murphy's gives you this and more.

Visited this Irish Pub in the Chaweng Resort in Koh Samui. The only thing going for it is the claim that all draught beers are served at +1 degree for optimum chill and the food all typically British with a Thai menu. In the style of the O'Neills chain in the UK, but when you consider this chain is outdated and is in decline in the UK can't understand why keep to this concept as tourist will soon get the drift.Get out to other Pubs nearby, Cocos a new Blues Venue, Black Jacks a nice compact venue gives a personal service and you can view UK football close up and The Wave allows you to pick a DVD to view any evening and has a book exchange facility.
