in the us we pay premium price for this beer because it is imported. the first one goes down rough, but after that they all go down pretty easy. I think that stella/wife beater is one of my favorite beers of choice. it sure beats budweiser. we also call it wife beater here to. Nothing like going on a long overdue vacation and having a nice cold stella. First thing i do when i get in and the last thing i do before i leave. This beer is GREAT!

Never had the real Belgian one and not a can drinker but I rate the UK version of Stella as one of the worst draught beers around. Has to be drunk at extremely cold temperatures and extreme speed to avoid the nasty nasty aftertaste. So, in pretty much order of preference: I always go for these first: Asahi Kirin Red Stripe Kronenbourg 1664 Staropramen BudWeiser (Budvar) - The real Czech one Amstel Meh! but at least I can drink it: Grolsch Heineken Becks Carlsberg Export Would rather have a pint of Cider than: Carlsberg Fosters Becks Vier Castlemaine Budweiser - the US one that stole the name Tennents Stella Artois Carling Harp Skol

Just had a new liver and kidney installed in my body - think it belonged to some cowering t-totaler. Me and michelle have finished with each other so any birds wanting some booze fuelled fun then get me pissed up. Love Boozer PS off to Copenhagen next week to watch united - you may see me on the news at ten getting chased down the street by Danish ladies. Ssssssssssssshhhh!

I have ever drunk many beers. In my country President, a pilsener one, is the most consumed beer and was my favorite for ages. However, when I drank Stella Artois, I changed my mind. I personally think is the best beer on Earth. I appreciate you were stablished in 1666. Congratulations!!! Félix Troncoso.

Now now boys, we're all share a common interest here, lets not get distracted.Mmmm, actually, Tony, you single? Coz, I'm sitting here alone with my Stella and taking serious strain competing against Mailbu and Coke.....

Michelle is going with me Toni so piss off and get your own bitch. Love Stella

For years i drank Pilsner Urguell, thinking it was the best beer in the world. Wrong, wrong. Its number 2 now after Stella. When the place i buy beer is out of Stella, i buy Pilsner Urguell. Here in the States we get the beer made in Belgium, not the UK. Michelle, will you marry me? Tony

Very good lager beer. I love it, but must agree with some opinions that only in Belgium it taste like Stella Artois. Cheers :)

Very entertaining thread, lads and lasses! Agree, Stella in Britain bears no resemblance to the proper Belgian stuff, either in taste or price, the 8 rating is for the proper stuff, not the massively over advertised cack they brew in UK at several times the price (a la Fosters, 4X, etc, etc.).

Stella is one of the beers that you can't compare with others. I as a Belgian , hate other beers because the best beer i can find is in my own country. if we drink heineken and then a good stella ore jupiler , we think heineken or any other beer is piss. So belgian beer rulzz an d it's the greatest in the world.

Hey guys....this Canadian gal loves Stella...maybe because its light and doesn't make me feel full. me feel bloated. BUT...maybe those of you who don't like it find it too light??? Anyway.....as they say...."never tasted a real bad beer yet!" Chow

Wow, great news we're all proper boozers again, not like these festive once a year tossers. Stella has become 10 out of 10 for me now, cos my local has Foooooked off the uk shite after several boozed fueled conversations with me. It has got a reputation amongst sad alkies like me now as the place to go when getting 'tinned up'. PS Michelle off to hospital now finally after 2 cancellations PPS The new Kink Kong movie is shit (even after smuggling 5 cans of Artois into the pictures.) Love Jim Skull Island

Stella is hands down the best beer in the World. I first tasted this in France 4 years ago and fell in love with it. Now in the states, it is getting really popular to my delight. I will give my business to any establishment that carries stella over one that doesnt. First time i can ever say that for a beer. I LOVE THIS BEER!

After the festive period of food and beer.... more beer and food..... then loads more beer again, it had occured to me that Stella dosent give you the bad headache it used to!!! I believe the brewers are using less additives (which has to be good) which caused the wife beating sydrome some of you may have felt.
Changing the subject though, what is it about suity bootys in pubs who find really crap names to nickname 'my precious' stella for example. Can i have a pint of winnie? (as in Winnie Mandela)~? I heard this 65 year old city boff ask the poor 17 and 3 quater year old young lady who was serving. Poor child!

I do appreciate you beer, which I drink in rotation with others. I have tried some in 5 liter Party Can and wonder if you do produce such a size.? Incedently since I considered that One could not feel a glass of beer unless using the corner of a table, so I decided to desine and have a mold made up to produce a plastic 2 pieces to be assembled and make a support that firmly hold the can and facilitate the glass to be put under the tap to be feeled. The suppot is flatly overwra-pped in skin pack and is very econmical to produce. Local beer producers to not sell much of that format,so if this Party Can is popular in Europe, I could produce it for anyone interested and if not competitive to produce in Canada, my mold can easyly travel any where with some business agreement, since I have a brother in Bel-gium, nephews in England, and other in France.

Top Drink!! but i need to add another dimension to this twisted tale. no one has mentioned anything about tops?? (those who have a dash of lemonade at the top of their larger although arguably at the bottom). Im a Stella Top drinker and find it gives the refreshing twist i need to pretty much neck my first half (pint) in complete enjoyment of lemony zesty crisply wet hop flavours rolling around tantalising the taste buds. right im off down the batlle cruiser... let me know!
Rating-1Rating-1Rating-1Rating-1Rating-1
When it comes to lagers stella is the very best. If you don't like stella it can be only two things: it wasn't the real thing you drank or you shouldn't be drinking beer at all. Stick with burbon or something.

Stella Artois = Bad Hangover
Rating-1Rating-1Rating-1Rating-1Rating-1
My local battlecruiser (boozer) has for the first time, got stella on draft. Mmme! - it is superior to the shite Fosters and Carlsberg and especially Kronenberg (French toss). Imagine how nice it would have been if they could be arsed importing the real shit over here!
Rating-1Rating-1Rating-1Rating-1Rating-0
The Stella we get in Ireland is pretty awful - tastes like burnt rubber and literally could peel the lining off one's stomach. However, I tried the real thing in Belgium and found it to be extremely pleasant. It was much lighter in colour and had a crisp, refreshing taste. Shame on the powers that be for selling the junk version abroad - it doesn't do the real Stella justice!

I would have to say that after reading the comments above I feel compelled to add my own. I discovered Stella during my 3 year round the world trip in Belgium and after travelling several months and covering many countries, I still enjoy it wherever it can be found. I have to add that whilst touring the beautiful winelands in your country, Michelle, that I enjoyed a pint of Stella in a tree at Spier.

Mattalan !? - In England you are a shop that sells electrical stuff and shit clothes etc. Live Burn Die - Calm down! Have a pint and think about what your mailing. Anyone know why Stella is so expensive in Wales? - 4 cans cost me £4.40 in the local - rip off! Michelle - how are you?
Rating-1Rating-1Rating-1Rating-1Rating-1
Laura - a 0 pinter is a fit bird/girl/women who blokes would roast/ make love to/ pork etc etc, sober ie. need 0 pints to find her attractive - (like Michelle, allegedly! and Sharon Stone)
A 10 pinter would be a right moose! (although we've all had 10 pints before so think about that!)
Regards....
Boozer and lover

News Flash! - Whilst at a BBQ at mine on Saturday - I did the Pepsi challenge with Stella. Me and two mates had two clean empty glasses each. Into these we poured cold Belgium stella into one and cold UK stella into the other. Belgium version was noticeabley lighter in colour and a lot, I mean a lot fizzyer (is that how you spell it!) in appearance and taste. It crackles on your tongue almost!. UK was darker in appearance and a lot smoother, almost like an ale. Both my mates preferred the Uk version - strange. Ah well! I am drinking wine now 'cos stella makes you fat (so my wife tells me and my mates and people in my pub and at old trafford - boom! Rooney was never a scouser anyway!) Love Jim. Big Time No.1. Lover of Michelle (o pinter - Allegedly!)

Very, Very humerous response from you Michelle, to obvious sabotage from my (so called) friends (Mr B Farrimond).
I have upped my rating for this comment only, in respect to your efforts and humour. I am even going to but some Stella tonight in respect (belgium cans of course).
Love from
Malibu and Coke
PS. Still love you though!

In the whole world, they make lager. But Belgium is and stays the beerparadise in the world. Lager is just an element in our huge beerdiversity. Nevertheless, Stella Artois is one of the best beers of the world. I know there are differences all over the world but still they make it with the best ingredients and knowledge of making a very good beer!! Cheers!

My Darling Jim!!
I must say you're doing a sterling job as mediator of this rapidly developing chat room for Stella. I do appreciate it - It does help to take the pressure off me as you know how many beers are listed on our world famous beer index!! Having said that however, please don’t be so rough on our fellow beer drinkers, we need to encourage them to give their input – sorry Goerge!
And thank you for being so understanding about my lack participation in our budding romance lately – it’s not often one finds such an understanding and accommodating lover, and I don’t think I could handle the added pressure!!
On the subject, your wife of 7 years sent a message through. Alas, I was unable to approve it as she never once referred to Stella, which ultimately is the prime reason for us gathering together here. She referred only to Malibu and coke (twice), which she obviously enjoys very much. She mentioned that if you gave her 5 of them tonight she would show you how capable she was of forgiveness!! but not after threatening to wage her own little Boer war on me!! Silly cow – what would she know of Boer tactics! The rest was rather too vulgar to mention - I can understand why you were driven into my arms. Oooo, and she sent the message from a male’s email address – perhaps the reason why she is so prepared to forgive you?
One thing I did appreciate was her rating of 10, which I have duplicated here in my review in order to try and restore the natural order of things after you dropping your rating!! How could you? Surely you understand that the UK produced drivel should not impact upon your opinion of the real thing? Perhaps add another Stella for the UK and let rip in that one? There is another Stella listing floating around somewhere in this vast DB if I remember correctly.(oops - checked it out - I did not remember correctly)
Well, folk – now that you know exactly where I stand as far Stella is concerned – I must herewith put an end to my participation, and to any other review that is not Stella related – although I do understand that it’s far more exciting keeping up to speed with the blossoming love affair between myself and Jim, we need to take our relationship off stage. I certainly don’t need any bitter wives waging war on me armed with Malibu and Coke!
Love and kisses, Michelle

Goerge, nice comments, however, spell your name right please in future> Love Lager Lover. PS. Staropramen ( The Star of Prague) tastes good, when chilled and served in a decent glass. Note my rating is reducing. Stella now comes in 20 bottles rather than 24 - pissey crap uk rubbish

Stella Artois is one of the finest beverages to ever pass my lips. Of course, as previously discussed, it must be the original. Whenever one tries to immitate anything, of course, there will be siginificant difference.
