Gallo in Canada?? by whitenoise
Anyone know how/where I can get some Gallo beer in Vancouver? is there any (legal) way of importing a few cans here?
discovered it ny accident while in Guatemala. Fell in love with it and crave more while I am back in the US.
I like a light beer with no aftertaste. We just toured four of the Central American countries (trying all their beers) and returned to Canada. Gallo even beats my local choice.
Gallo taste is much better than Famosa in USA, I am from Guatemala and I know the diference.
I just returned from a trip to Guatemala and had the pleasure of drinking many Gallos. It is the best beer in its class, as far as pale lager goes no other beer in the world beats a Gallo.

I am a Chapina, and growing up in California it is rare to find any Central or Southern American Beer, when I first tasted Gallo I said puchica vos esto save bueno, y mejor que la Corona. Sorry Mexicans but Guatemalas beer is and will take over just as soon as more and more people hear about it. Thats why my 21st B-Day party is coming up and I will have tons of (Gallo) aka Famosa, to introduce it to others so they can say the same thing!!!
It was interesting to read the different comments on this site. My grandmother's father and his brother first started brewing the beer at their home and selling it out of street carts until one won the lottery in the states. With the new money they were able to start the brewery which has expanded into what it is now. I am told that it has a very good taste. I rely on others as I don't drink beer. I am probably one of the stock holders that don't drink the product.

ectar of the Gods has won many international awards. I've tried many beers around the world and i think Gallo it's the best by far. The other brazilian so called Beer of course it's no match for it. I think they (Brahva) would do better if they'd sell it as floor cleaner for the quemicals they put in it!
Brahva is not better than Gallo, neither is sol, or Victoria for that matter. I would understand if you like Moza better, it's a totally different style of beer. But as far as Central American beers, Gallo is definitely the best. I have a craving for the "pride of Guatemala" and don't know where to find it. Anyone know where I can find Famosa in Albuquerque?
I have try several beers around the world and I can tell that Gallo is one of the best tasting beers that exists. I'm proud as a guatemalan to have this quality beer. It has won a lot of awards internationally,the facilities are state of the art, thank you Gallo for all the happy moments!!!
my family and i travel almost yearly to this beautiful mayan country and we always have to be stocked up from the time we arrive till we leave with that great beer its'' excellente'' as we say in spanish
just back from guatemala. love the gallo, try the moza, es cerveza obscura.
anyone know how to make a mechelado? it's gallo, worchester sauce, tomato juice, lime, salt, pepper, maybe more but don't know what proportions. help!
try these recipes for micheladas
12 oz beer
juice of 1 lemons
2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
1 dash soy sauce
1 dash Tabasco® sauce
1 pinch black peppers
salt
or
1/2 lime, preferably a Key lime
Coarse salt
2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
1 dash soy sauce
1 dash Tabasco sauce
1 pinch black pepper
1 dash Maggi seasoning, optional
12 ounces beer, preferably a dark Mexican beer like Negra Modelo.

rowdy beer! i could drink it all night! like the bud light of guate! pretty cheap and you get a refund for returning the bottle. i'm lookin to have a gallo party here at school in ohio, but i'm not sure where to get it...?
My best friend's family owns the company so im pretty familiar with the beer. When I went to Guatemala I had Gallo among other beers owned by their family. Gallo has a great taste and its pretty nice to have it in the US as Famosa. Famosa tastes a little different but it definately has a great tast to it. I wish they would import Dorada, a darker and more expensive beer also owned by the family.
Add a lime to a cold Gallo after a hard day of work and play and you are sure to RELAX and ENJOY
Gallo beer * owned by my grand parents back in the day, los castillo's my father luis fernando castillo was a motorcycle "champion" in the late 50's and 60's . my father was also a motorcylce mechanic since he was 13 years old. since then he married, moved to california and has 3 children, 6 grand-children, devoted to God almighty. It´s a delicious surprise the first time you try it. Then you fall in love to this beer, a must try of the beers. I´d kill to have one rigth now at work!!!

I travel constantly to Guatemala with my family and i got have one of those great,great, beers as soon as i get off the airplane so that sould tell you how smooth and good this beer is

I've always wanted to try Gallo/Famosa. I live in Canada, does anyone know how i can import some? I've tried calling all of the local importers in town here and noone has even heard of the beer.

Our trip to Guatemala was Gallo-powered. Gallo is the super-unleaded of beers. Looking for a gallo cozy.
I’d give it a 12. Best beer in the world for the price drink it up.
Gallo is best really really cold so you don't actually taste it. If you are in Guate go for the Sol, also a thirst quencher, but for a better taste try the Brava, its Brazillian and I've been told but it has much better flavor than Gallo
I was surprised on the quality of this beer when I was backpacking around Guatemala.

It's pretty good, It grew on be on my time in Guate. Maybe it's the good time clouding my judgement, or maybe it's the whacking alcohol content (5.5%!) but my memories are of a great beer.
Gallo Beer --- “el agua bendita” --- is easily my favorite. My brother in law works for the brewery in the El Zapote neighborhood in Zone 2 of Guatemala City, and gave me a personal tour of the facilities a few years ago. The plant is very modern and up to date, with the latest computerized equipment from Europe and the United States. Gallo Beer (known as “Famosa” in the United States) has a wonderful taste, and has won numerous international awards.

Im from Gutemala , And im proud of having the best beer in centarl america. It gos with anything you want food , parties, clubs you name it . I think its the best tast of golden rich beer. You should try it.
