Oranjeboom sucks. Furthermore, Oranjeboom is part of Interbrew (or Inbev as it is called nowadays) so i think some other part of Interbrew makes the AH beer nowadays.

I just found out that the old Albert Heijn pils was brewed by Oranjeboom, which sadly closed in 2004. On a trip to Israel, for some odd reason the hotel I stayed at sold cans of Oranjeboom very cheaply, which was a good thing because the Israeli beers weren't so great. I wonder who will brew for the Heijn stores now? I'll update this when I find out.

In a blind taste test with friends, the Albert Heijn store brand topped out amongst Dutch beers, to our surprise. Everyone preferred it to Heineken even. I don't know what brewery the supermarkt chain uses to brew it, but it's as good as anything else you'll find. I've not been back to Holland since the euro kicked in, but I hope this beer is still as cheap as it was. Stupid euro....
