Pride of the South!!!
im from queenstown nz and i miss speights i have tasted some beer in my trvels but nothing comes close to the 3stars blue and gold
im just back from six months in nz and im just having my last can of speights how depressing i cant seem to find any here in scotland right enough maybe thats a good thing they say theres a meal in every can and six months of it shows let me tell you!!!!!!!!!!!
Gold and Old Dark - superb. Even She Who Must Be Obeyed (brought up on European lager-piss) was impressed and now we're home has to drink Mild to get anywhere near her favourite Old Dark (It's a bit of shame she has to have it chilled though, but we are getting there! Miss it like hell. Is there anywhere in the UK you can get it?

Superior piss Enjoyed In Great Hotels Through Southland
Speights is without doubt the best beer ever produced. Nothing else even comes close. If only i could find it in Belfast!
After spending two weeks in New Zealand and drinking the wonder ale that Speights produce, and that is avalible on nearly every street corner - i had to return to the country of larger and not that great larger either. We have lots af brands that incluse the words "cold" or "ice", you see the colder you drink it the less you will notice the taste. I have looked everywahere for speights here and it is just not avalaible (sob). Its like touching a million dollares and then having it taken off you and you can never spend it.
The closest drop to dish washing liquid this one from James in Dunedin. One of the most dreaded ales in the south to consume in the 1980's and it hasn't changed a millimeter. Would be rated right up with the other dish washing liquids of the 1980's Lion Red and Reinneck. Mass produced crap. Would have to say the brew lets the Speight's brand down completely as for a few $$ more the Speight's Collection/hand-made brews are priceless gems. Old-Dark is one of the most beautiful dark brews on the market and best value fr $ for sure.
just got back form drinking terrible beer in Tonga for two weeks - how GOOOOD did my first Speights taste upon my return!
Old Dark is one of the finest beers I have ever experienced. A malt beer, it is second to none. Superb. I only hope I can get it in Brtain as I have now gone into "cold turkey" without having it for a number of weeks.
