Not as good as people have said, too fruity and flowery for a beer. A beer should never be mistaken for a potpourri bag for a ladies knicker drawer. Malt, Hops, Sugar, Yeast - citrus and flowers are not required.
On my first visit to NZ in 1994 I was drinking Canterbury Draught in the Anglers Arms in Sefton with my mate Tom, and later discovered Speights Old Dark!!. I went back in 2000 to Picton and Tom and I continued where I had left off with the OD. While in the west country of the South Island in 2000 I became acquainted with Menteiths Dark and Macs Black. All of them very good. I cannot find an outlet in the UK for any of these beers, mores the pity. Can anybody help?.
Sampled this delicacy from James of Dunedin and from the moment it touched my sinises to when it permeated my mouth and taste buds...my prayers were answered and yes I discovered eternal truth from enlightenment...there is a heaven...and it comes in the form of brown bubbly nectar from the Gods! I have sampled all the boutique beers from Speight's Collection and this is the BEST!
